This takes me back , myself and my friends used to ride these trails in the early 90’s on hardtails with no suspension ( hardcore ) , used to ride up to Wentwood from Ringland on a Sunday morning and spend a good 4-5 hours up there and always finish by climbing up Grey Hill and going along the top and fling down to the bottom, great days

Nicely ridden in high winds and doing that mahoosive drop at the start of Superswooper bravo, I couldn't do it, looked like I'd go OTB on that lol. I did a solo last week on Thursday, and also took it easy as there was snow at the top and then hale, rain and gusts. I did get caught out on lower Race Track, to me it looked like I was staring death in the face lol, I had to quit half way down it.
@marcanthonyreal6 ай бұрын
Top effort! There were some closures on the day I was there so I didn’t get to do Race Track or Original DH. I also just kept moving as it was cold, so I joined whichever uplift queue was shortest and went non-stop until around 2:30pm, then I called it a day!

Do you just run lower air pressure in your tires most of the year?
@marcanthonyreal6 ай бұрын
I tend to go for 23psi in the front with 26psi in the rear unless it’s super steep and sloppy (or icy/snowy) when I’ll go down to 19psi in the front and 23psi at the rear.
@bullit4x6 ай бұрын
@@marcanthonyreal cheers. Was just curious because you guys are always, ALWAYS riding in wet slop. Or so it seems. I’m in the same situation. I live in western North Carolina. And it’s the same conditions 6 months out of the year. Wet, snowy and slick.
@bullit4x6 ай бұрын
@@marcanthonyreal inserts? I personally don’t. All it took was one flat that was too big for a puncture kit. 2 broken tire levers and a 3 mile hike to the car. And those fu@king things came out of all my bikes. Except my dh/ park bike. And only in the rear
@marcanthonyreal6 ай бұрын
No inserts for me as I’m only around 65Kg, but Wales is generally wet all year with the odd dry day thrown in. Most bike parks here run really well in those conditions, but the natural stuff holds a lot more water, especially when we’re riding on old coal slag in the Rhondda valley.

Took me and a friend 4 hours to get up this in the 90's and 20 mins to descend it on hardtails with 2.5" of travel on the front. Think we had pace forks.. We did it after winter when it wasn't as busy. The last mile was pure snow ice and our hair and eyebrows froze at the top. As did our rim brakes. We had to ride down the first 500m dragging our brakes to unfreeze them. What an epic that was. The road curves at the bottom are insane as the speed caught us out.
