Working on my first game now, completely self taught just some dumb kid from the middle of no where Virginia, But my love for Video Games & Computers is unreal. 25 with a Wife and 2 kids who drive me to make this dream come true to better our lives vs me having to work on cars full time and lay hardwood floors on the side. Your an inspiration to people like me.

Hi, very nice information here for people who wants to go and make their own games.. i'm curious 4:36 is this game made entirely using blueprints or you coded it in C as well? Thank you so much for the inspiring life lesson

Hey Jordy, great game. I was thinking, after the film Gladiator, with Russell Crowe, it'd be great if there was a game on Steam to play a gladiator. Lo and behold! Prayers answered. The combat system is great: it reminds me of War of the Roses, plus some Kingdom Come: Deliverance as well. Great job! Thanks for the game and this vid (I still haven't got the hang of throwing things, but hey....)

I’m looking for people who want to create a game. I work at an international game studio and we do AA and AAA development. We were at GDC, and if you are looking at building something we’d love to hear from you. We do console, PC, Steam, mobile, VR, and more. Comment or Dm

Very inspiring story! I'm about to start my game development journey, from being a 2D/3D Animator and Motion graphics artist, I just spent hours consuming contents that could give me a a head start like this one. Thank you so much for sharing your story. I want to ask if your game is or will be available on Android or IOS?

Your story is amazing and inspirational! 🤯 You had a method, stick on it and improved it. That’s something that 99.999% of indie (let alone solo) devs manage. We who are about to fail, salute you 🫡

Grats on the sucess man, I was making a game a few years back it was a Streets of Rage esque beatemup with RPG leveling system and randomly generated levels across a wasteland map. The game was set in a post apocolyptic verion of old Yorkshire/England mining towns and featured tongue in cheak factions that jabbed at some of the woke and other cultist groups we have in real life today. The main coding side of the game was pretty much done, just would have added more as ideas came to me or whatever felt good after playtests but the media development was what took most of the time. I came down with meningitis though and ended up in hospital for a while. Now my brain doesnt work like it used to so sadly my game will never see the light of day.

Such an awesome journey, thank you for sharing! Not many have the discipline and devotion to a vision you have. It looks like you used Unreal, were you able to complete the game using primarily blueprints, or did you do a deep dive into C++?

I personally think that the work "around" a game like you describe it in the video, perfect moment for this (e.g. post in social media), perfect moment for that etc. is nowadays the main thing to get a video game sold, not the quality of the game itself. Don't get me wrong, I like your game, but I think if you have all the other "sell" skills you will also have success with a "not so bad" game.

I'm one of your players that got the game because of Jackie fish and splattercats videos and I've played off and on ever since ❤ its an amazing game ESPECIALLY as something created by ONE PERSON!? Even now I'm currently playing the game which crazily gives the game a longer lifetime then ANY of the other games I've bought since...I was one of those people that was actively waiting for the release day. and to this day....its a game that is so unique I don't personally think i've ever played anything similar and that is just outright impressive.
