You are right...it was already damaged alot before the .308. But it shouldn't have been damaged so much from the smaller rounds. It failed the test long before the .308.

A lot of flashlight makers are switching to proprietary batteries with their higher output lights to have better control of output, run times, and safety. I get the desire to have a light that can be powered by easily found common batteries, but Olight does make their batteries pretty affordable on their website.

If the light is on, the indicator is on.

There had been complaints about the old tail switch for handhelds. The old style did not always stand stable on its tail....particularly when using the magnet to mount it at an odd angle. Also, metal shavings could find their way into the seams. This new version addresses those. Now, I did just test it. The remote switch will activate and control the light. But it will not lock in place.
