Hi there I have a 4.0 liter project Do you have any suggestion about using a higher capacity injectors? Did you use the original 3.6 liter injectors or you used higher capacity injectors?
@YogisGarage8 күн бұрын
I haven’t personally done it, but my Turbo has larger injectors and a custom tune and that was on a 3.6. Certainly doable with these cars.

Question: When you removed the hydraulic pump were you able to tell if the plastic reservoir that holds the fluid is detachable from the metal upper pump part? It looks like there is a water hose clamp holding the plastic reservoir to the pump. I can see crud in my reservoir and I'd like to get it all out. Not sure you can do that simply by turning the pump assembly on its side. Any comment/thoughts would be appreciated. Joe

I just went through this on my 996. That black plug is for the MOST system in the original radio setup, where the original amp was located. Are you rear speakers hooked up and working now?
@YogisGarage2 ай бұрын
No because that would require an 8-channel amp. The dash is on channels 1-4, doors are 3+4 and sub is using ch 5+6
@andrebrown87922 ай бұрын
@@YogisGarage I have my system wired as the the dash speakers as 1 channel each; the crossover splits out the proper signal to the mid and the tweeter. So my dash speakers are channels 1 and 2, the rear speakers are channels 3 and 4. The lower door subs and stand alone sub are in series a separate channel 5. Sounds great.

Awesome series, thank you for the posts. Could you provide what manual you were using to get this bottom end squared away? Cheers from Smyrna, Tennessee!
@YogisGarage2 ай бұрын
Hey thanks for the kind words! I got the manual from emanualonline dot com. Be careful because often times they have to sell you the manual in a virtual machine to get it to work. For the Audi they send me Windows XP as well so I could boot it up. lol

Excellent video Yogi! I have been struggling to fix my 1999 996 cab top, replacing hydraulic cylinders recently, and couldn’t find any documentation about the order of the 3 copper gaskets between the hose caps. You are the only one that mentioned the order hey are placed! TY! I have 1 question: when my top opens now, it tends to jerk toward the end when it reaches the back cavity. It used to be very smooth folding. Any idea why?
@YogisGarage3 ай бұрын
As a matter of fact I just noticed that on mine today. It’s like it stutters as it’s going down. Be sure to top off your fluids and check for leaks. That’s what I plan on doing. Good luck. DM me on Instagram and let me know.

I’m rebuilding the same motor, can you please share with me the torque specs? Or the source you got them from?
@YogisGarage3 ай бұрын
Hey thanks for stopping by. I would say that every bolt is torqued to the standard amount based on size. That information is easily available with a google search for torque specs by bolt diameter. Now for cylinder head bolts, or any other that require torque to angle, I used emanualonline. Good luck!

thank you you for following your obvious good taste. on paper met. blue with red guts I would think it could be vomit inducing but no its actually so tasteful and you obviously knew the anodized red wheel were more clown car. now its weapons grade. I have totally come around 180 degrees to believe the 996 is as attractive as any 997. im the curator of my brothers 17k 1997 993 turbo which is great but the performance that can be had is so much greater. I've been a 911 turbo fanatic for all my 50 years. I believe I said I want a 930 turbo as my head exited the womb. I said I'd never buy a cab not a early 80's Carrera and no f-ing way a turbo. now these days I'd love a cab. I'd sell my kidneys for your car. its just unique the spec is awesome but it a 996 cab and its one of my favorite turbos ever. great car my friend and again thank you for adjusting the wheel issue. they now look spot on. cheers
@YogisGarage3 ай бұрын
Thank you for taking the time to write such a thoughtful comment. I'm a huge fan of the 993 and the Turbo is my unobtanium. I'm with you on the cab. I just don't like people staring at me, so with that and the clown wheels I felt like I was in the spotlight. Now, the car looks modern and classy. The cab just tops it off. This car screams and to hear it all makes me smile every time. All the best! ✌🏼

I just picked my 09 997.2 from the shop it was in since January. Right rear hydraulic motor failed during operation, but the driver side did not, causing a complete catastrophic failure of the mechanisms of the top. The top itself didn't require replacing despite the twisting effect it suffered, but everything else was seriously damaged. I was quoted $14k plus at the dealer. My guy straightened it out for $7300. All but the slight bend in the rear passenger side of the clamshell. Can a body work repair be performed to straighten out a clamshell? Super video bro and thanks in advance for any advice. Roddy.
@YogisGarage3 ай бұрын
Hi Roddy. Both prices seem excessive however I’ve never priced a full top frame so not sure. You may be better off replacing the clamshell if it’s too bad off. Otherwise fix it and send it. Leaking will be your biggest issue. Check your local junk yards or car-part.com. Good luck and thanks for watching! ✌🏼

Well, I've always been on the fence about buying quick jacks and now I won't. The O-ring design is wrong. O-rings need side support to contain the squish. Same problem with drain plugs on CSF radiators. Too bad they went cheap. Hopefully your coilovers(assumed you have them) are easily adjustable
