Yea it's a workaround but every phone have their own downsides. This is one for that pixel.

Qfter setting it looks fine ,but Qfter restart pixel ignor the setting

I don't understand why they placed the front camera lower than the Pixel 8. So now you have a thicker status bar. C'mon Google!

It's because of the wider view and the higher megapixel count that requires a bigger camera so that's why it's a bit lower than the pixel 8. But even then I think it's still a thick status bar. Now it's even thicker...

The camera is much bigger on the 9 series compared to the 8 series.. that's how much they added (the size of the new camera)..

@@RaySchneider thanks for watching! Yea after restarting the phone it was great. Thinner status bar with no notch but eventually the notch would appear. You could restart your phone again and it would disappear again. Might be annoying tho

How did you add lockicon on your homescreen? I got the update yesterday on my pixel 7 and my fingerprint scanner went from slow to really fast - I love it. Though I'd also love to connect pixel to my external monitor via HDMI, right now it doesn't support pixel 7. Great video by the way.

Hi, it's an app called one click lock screen. play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=rk.android.app.lockscreen I use it to just turn off screen with one tap. I miss the double tap feature to turn off from other phones so I use this instead! Thanks for watching!

I was doing this exact thing 7 years ago with the Essential Phone, and just like then, you STILL can't adjust the pointer size, so it looks absolutely gigantic on a 24" monitor. zero progress from android 10

@ColinYKL my last iPhone was...funny to say it was the 5S way back but I know apple and samsung are copying each other but.. apple seems more stable ios 17 and 18 I've noticed samsungs S24U i had and Android 14 ui 6.1 is a cluster mess and fells like it was rushed out but your right they have reached there peak

You would still need a HDMI to usbc cable. It's the only way to connect to a monitor.

It will be the same for pixel 8. You need a HDMI hub to connect like I have in the video.

U can just use scrcpy to use it on a laptop, and indeed that desktop mode is still the same from Android 10 up till now (15). And I can confirm as long as the phone can have an adb access and at least on Android 10 it can run just the same desktop mode (kinda), all u need are the phone with developer mode enabled, and a laptop with scrcpy installed/downloaded.* Based on my personal experience.

Taskbar app messes with pixel launcher in Android 15. Causes glitches in normal use. Also when a window maximized you lose access to app bar at bottom.

Honestly they are all great phones but I didn't choose iPhone because I just prefer Android due to the customization you can do and the flexibility. Samsung are great too and have a lot of functionality but something about stock Android and the Google experience gets me to stick with the Pixels.

@ramr7051 no it's only the Dex for PC is getting retired which is different from the actual Dex you get when plugged into a monitor. Dex for PC is a software you install on your Windows computer that allows you to do phone things on your Windows computer. They are replacing that with Link to Windows I believe which is made by Microsoft.
