Michael Stipe always had to have the lyric sheet out on stage whenever they played this song live. How on earth would you remeber the whole thing otherwise?

Watching a song go completely over your heads is quite amusing.

Before Stevie Nicks, Ann Wilson, Joan Jett, Debbie Harry, and the dozens or female vocalists that followed, there was Grace Slick, the High Priestess of Rock & Roll.

Holy shit dude, I never considered that point of view at the end like that. I've listened to it a lot.. I always took the more literal view of the enemy I guess.. my mind...

Lol, she said it's just background music, LOL!! I had this playing at all four of my Sadie hockins dances in high school... 🤔

Everyone says this song was written about a dog that had to be put down, that’s absolutely wrong this song has nothing to do with a dog.

The drum beat is what's called the "Bo Diddley" beat. You'll also hear it in "I Want Candy" by Bow Wow Wow.

It's about a young guy having a tawdry sexual relationship with an older woman, the second half is him saying he does actually care about her.

Lex's reactions are often PRICELESS! When she loves some song, there's no need for her to say anything. The look on her face and the joy in her heart is all we need.

Not a big Pantera fan, but Ive been in love with this song for over 20 years now. I appreciate them so much. Master musicians. Just an incredible band. I have all their albums. Ive listened many, many times to all of them. Vulgar Display of Power is my favorite. Fucking Hostile and A New Level are untouchable.

I find Americans are very keen to fit something into genre.. think the British artists are not concerned so much where they 'fit in'..

Funny things about the song: It was number one in the charts, but they refused to print it, so they left the charts blank. During the Queen's jubilee celebration the band rented a boat and drove past the celebration playing the song. The police raided the boat and arrested them and their manager, who happened to be Richard Branson.

Listen to Dio-This is your life. He could sing anything, the absolute best vocals in the industry. You can also listen to pre-metal Dio with Ronnie and the red caps. Don't talk to Strangers has been rumored to be written for Wendy Dio and all the affairs she had on Ronnie
