Is there a reason you don't strip it and go straight to scraping? I feel like it would be a lot less abrasive to strip it and then use a putty knife to scrape off the finish that way.

@@CatrinaSanford-i6z no reason, I guess. I will consider that in the future. Thanks.

If you edited better you would have more subscribers. The relentless screw turning is a huge downer. The quick draw sequence was just plain dumb. The final reveal was extremely poor. You spent more time showing your viewers a screw being turned that you did on you final reveal. You can hate me for saying this but I am only being honest in hopes that you will improve because I would love to see you refinish furniture with good editing.

@canadiantractorguy67614 күн бұрын
So how is he going to get any better unless someone gives him feedback? Now he will not do so much screw turning and give more time to the reveal. This will attract more viewers.
@BuilttoCreate4 күн бұрын
Thanks for the feedback. However, calling something I do dumb is not really good, constructive criticism. I would expect better video work on someone's channel that is so critical of others.

Seriously, that is amazing! I ,love your idea of using oil paints to match veneer damage. So, if I got this right, paint after the first coat of poly and it will work? That piece is gorgeous. Also, what is this “warm satin “ poly? Thanks.
@BuilttoCreate11 күн бұрын
To match the color correctly in this particular situation, yes, I did it after the first coat. I used acrylic paints the second time which is fine to use with polyurethane. The first time the poly changed the color of the wood, not the paint. I should've realized that in the beginning. Warm Satin is just what Minwax named this type of sheen. Thank you for the comment!

Your colour matching was good, but at first you matched your patches to the unfinished colour so when you applied the finish the timber changed tone. You can try dampening the surrounding timber with spirit to get the surrounding colour. You’ve done a fantastic job, it’s turned out really well
