once you cross the I-4 bridge you can go south or north. north takes you by a mountain bike course and trails and then to wekiva state park.

there is no reason for you to be on the sidewalk by lake mary blvd. there is a trail on the east side of the road. it goes all the way by big tree park to oveido.

I used a mountain bike hard tail and front suspension with 2.1" wide 29" tires. Niner Air 9 is the brand and model. Bonnie used a Trek FX Sport 6 gravel bike no suspension and Kevin used a Salsa Cut Throat Gravel no suspension. A road bike will work but going through the 3 mile sandy area of Richloam will be difficult.

The max my bicycle can do is 32C tires. Do you think I'll have an issue on that dirt/gravel section? I want to take the C2C, but the thought of riding down SR50 for the length is a little scary.
@petermattiace
@petermattiace 3 ай бұрын
Those tires are very skinny for the sandy 3 mile section. I would not recommend using that size tire for that area unless you decide on walking good parts of it. May be worth it rather than riding along SR50
@Phonamana
@Phonamana 5 ай бұрын
Thanks for sharing your videos and the route you took. I appreciate you showing the road names and the route! I am wondering if my 32s on my Road Bike would ride on that dirt road. Oh and thanks for the putting it in the description. You mentioned a 3 mile sandy road, that's probably where I would have the problems. Walking 3 miles could take an hour if I had to walk it. I am going to drive up there and check that out. That part of the stretch is the most questioned part of the whole C2C. I had seen they got pretty far on the cement trail next to CR-50. I rode up to US 301 last January in 2023 and the trail continued on but, I don't how far it went. I just know there was a lot of progress when I was there.
@petermattiace
@petermattiace 5 ай бұрын
Really the first mile was loose and somewhat sandy. The remaining 2 miles were harder packed. A skinny tire road bike would not do well. However the option to take SR50 would be sketchy. I would risk walking the sandy parts rather than riding SR50

@@petermattiace thanks for replying back so quickly and letting me know more about this route. I can walk a mile but, 3 miles would be a long walk. I just sent an e-mail to a friend of mine who is in the mapping business to see if he can see how far the progress has gotten on the cement trail next to SR-50 to the East of US 301. At a stand point view on Google maps it shows images from March of 2023 last year and it didn't get far passed 301. I had seen it there last January of last year when I rode up to that intersection. The construction was progressing pretty fast that I saw from six months prior to January of 2023. MapMyRide used to use Maxathon for Satellite imagery and it was awesome! It used to show very detailed imagery and I could even see the construction vehicles or the cement or asphalt bike trail. Now MapMyRide is using Terrametrics which doesn't show good Satellite imagery like it used to. My friend in the mapping business was involved with helping Maxthon before. I am not sure what mapping company he's working with now but, he's told me he has to be precise with the distances and what's on the ground. Maybe he will help me out with this area. Thanks again for your help! Happy Trails!

They put the murals on those tunnels under US Hwy 19 because people used to vandalize the tunnels and put grafitti the walls with painted slurs. Since they put the nice murals up, there hasn't really been too much grafittiing going on since. Aww...you all missed the sponge docks which was right down the street from that water park sign you filmed in the video. Haha...you are riding around the weekend warriors as we call them here in Pinellas County. There is a lot more trail traffic on the weekend. Downtown Dunedin is nice and lots of people visit there. Stonhenge Park made me nervous the first time I road around there. I kept thinking someone was going to jump out from behind a pillar and rob me. It's not there that people have to worry about, it's a little further passed that. There is 10 overpasses on Pinellas Trail and they are much easier to go up going South to St. Pete than going North towards Tarpon Springs. The trail goes more going towards St. Pete Congratulations on completing the whole journey and thank you for sharing all of your videos on your C2C ride! I am glad you got a good tailwind in the end. I am going to be riding Coast to Coast next month sometime when it's daylight savings time. I live in Pinellas County but, I am debating about starting in St. Pete because I ive on the NE part of Pinellas County in Clearwater and it's hard for me to get down there and start from there plus, riding up those 10 overpasses is not fun and it could stretch out my chain right in the beginning of my journey.

Enjoyed this collection of videos. I've watched them about three times now. I'm planning to do this trail in December. How was the biking from the trail to the hotel in Sanford? This is the only issue I'm having is picking places close to the trail. I have so many IHG points that I try and look for Holiday Inns. But, I will stay anywhere if it's easier and safer to get to. Again, great videos.

My plan is to take AMTRAK from Jacksonville and ride from Tarpon Springs to Deland to get picked up by AMTRAK there to get home. Thanks for showing the road names on your SR 50 gap bypass.
