You are right Pablo. This owes a lot to Leo but.. What inspired him to do it in the first place? Probably the greatest songwriting partnership in terms of lyrics and music that the 20th century offered the world of music and remember they were writing "lightwieght" pop songs!!" - nothing more. Staggering. The sheer volume of Lennon & McCartney's output of classic material dwarfs that of any other contenders like Rodgers & Hart, Rodgers & Hammerstein etc. Gershwin etc and most others didn't even attempt lyrics. Different age of course and relevance of course Closest parallels I suppose are the earlier opera greats like Puccini, but they don't being to compare with the majesty of this title or A day in The Life, Yesterday or She's Leaving Home...etc. The opera guys slowed it all down of course - which is maybe the one criticism I have heard and agree with about the Beatles' stuff. A lot of it was taken at too fast a pace which sacrificed a lot of its emotional resonance. Let's see if the 21st century comes even close to delivering a parallel to these two Limeys!

This arrangement sounds just like the 1 i heard on my old John Williams CD. I never expected it to be a duet arrangement tho. All the while I thought it was JW playing solo since no mention of a partner in the credits! Or perhaps its him alone in the studio but playing the1st & 2nd guitar parts separately, & the studio people will somehow merge the 2 recordings together into 1.

I first heard this played by John Williams and Julian Bream on their Together album and was blown away at the incredible talent of Granados! Another favourite is Cordoba by Albeniz transcribed for two guitars.

Never sounds better than played on guitars. Piano and orchestral versions just can't bring out the potential of his composition. Well done.
