i,m 66 now but my grandma lived in those miners cottages when they were located in hetton-le-hole. not sure if it was one of the surviving ones though

I'm doing good cheers just waiting for winter to pass so I can get back out camping, lots of new equipment to try out!. Yes I got the sticker thanks it blew away abit but found it and was quite sad I missed you guys leaving, apologies as I'm not a morning person 😂

Great video, my father in law had the same model during the mid 1970s to late 1990s. He did around 200,000 over the years. As it was also his daily. Sadly rust got the old van. Thanks for the tips? Do you have a ball park figure to get one of these back on the road again?

Watched your video this evening and the other one related! Very good and respect for you doing this. My father too was stationed here did 23 ops as a rear gunner. Flt Sgt Bob Pierson. He didn’t talk much either until his mid 70s when he suddenly opened up and was involved in television docs and books one of which was Tail End Charlie’s by John Nichol. We took him back here once for a reunion, they had one each year and went to the Jug and Bottle pub over the road named after one of the well known own aircraft that did over 100ops! Sadly our father too has passed on 12th Feb 2010 a notable date as his first op was on 12th Feb 1945 to a target named Chemnitz. Anyway our fathers and yours will I hope live into the future with our children and theirs and maybe even further, they are owed a great debt both those who never came back and those that did and gave us our futures to live. Hi Chris, thank you so much for your kind comment, my father never spoke of his time in the RAF, probably some things he would rather forget, but as i get older how I wish I could have spoken to him about it. Brilliant Vlog Allison and Brian. Had some happy times camping at Grouse Hill in the early 90's "Once with Brian" Brian pointed out a gigantic Dragonfly that had landed on his blue football and as Brian was going to take a pic of it, it flew passed us "sounded like a Lancaster Bomber" Last camped there about 14 years ago with two friends and Wally the sheep farmer owner was taking a back seat to the running of the site and his son was doing the managing. Love this site and it's approx. 7 miles from Whitby. Brilliant narration camera angles and editing. BTW i hope you kept the drone in site above the clouds and mist 😉

Have just been told about this airfield and now take two of my dogs there to walk. Thanks sooo much for documenting this 🙏 you cover everything so well. Did you feel the ambience when you were there? It's eerie, you can hear the airmen and the roar of the Lancasters somehow. What a fantastic tribute too. I got goosebumps right at the end with the sight and sound of the Lancaster Brilliant video, thanks again 🙏

Thank-you for your kind comment, it is indeed a very special place. My Dad was stationed there and was a flight engineer on the Lancasters so it means a lot to me to be able to walk in his footsteps.It is always an emotional place for me and makes me so proud, he never spoke of his time in the RAF and sadly he is no longer with us. Thanks again.
