@andrewhalstead59382 күн бұрын
Dave. I agree with your analysis - more thrust and airspeed required. Yes, 2S will cure both shortcomings, but I believe that there are simple solutions as well. The 1104 is a low-speed, high torque motor, and will pull a lot more pitch on a 5” GWS prop - as you surmised. Try a 5 x 4, and even go larger if you have them. You are completely welcome to borrow and try any of my range of props. I am trying 5 x 4 3 bladers on the 1104 motors on my Mosquito. Another option is the 1106 motor, which fits on the same footprint and swings bigger props. Again available to borrow and try. I should get to MM next Wednesday with props and motors

interesting project. I built the world's smallest EDF airliner with 20mm edf's (home made) and a 1/144 scale model as the basis - no gyro, no programming, flaps, rudder, elevator & aileron with throttle, scale landing gear, I don't believe anyone has made one smaller.

Wow, that is tiny. One of the guys in our indoor club has been flying I think, 30mm EDFs - one that worked well was a scale Canberra jet. My A-10 build is progressing well, so will hopefully be able to post the build and test flight video soon.

Hello, is the single motor version better that the original 3 motors?
@DavesFunRC2 ай бұрын
In my humble opinion, the single motor with larger prop is far better than the triple motor version. It has more thrust, longer flight times and is quieter. It also seems to last longer than the little triple motors. I still fly my F949 indoors with a small battery and outdoors with a larger battery. I’ve had heaps of hours of fun with this little plane.
@andersonfreitas953811 күн бұрын
Essa era a minha dúvida, comprar o motor triplo ou único? Também Gostaria de saber se tem diferença entre o 949 e o 707. Abraço- Anderson/ Brasil
@DavesFunRC11 күн бұрын
Hello, I bought the F949 Pro for my son, which costs a little more, but comes with the single 1020 motor. I would recommend this version. I don't know if the P707 is better - it looks very similar and the PRO comes with the single motor. I think either of these Pro versions would be OK.

:00 this image indicates that the chords of the rudder and elevator are NOT equal in length, as they should be.! on a tail-dragger, when the model is level the main lg should be Directly below the wing leading edge. 1:51 vert-stab design ISSUES.! the use of outboard dihedral equals Why.
@DavesFunRC3 ай бұрын
Good day, David! I have some comments from the builder regarding your feedback: Rudder and elevator chords can be anything. This model is very light and flies quite slowly requiring a relatively large rudder area with a range of movement to suit. The elevator chord is that which works effectively for the model with no relationship with the rudder required. The undercarriage location is fine where it is and could have been attached further forward or back. The legs are swept forwards slightly but could have been at any suitable angle. Tip dihedral is good for models without ailerons and the setting you see works just fine. This particular plane is fully developed and flies very satisfactorily and does not require any changes at all. Kind regards, Regards David

Neat modelling skills and use of a printer there, Dave! Just 1 query. At about 1.05 that first little one is described as having a "716 Brushless" Motor. A typo? A 716 coreless brushed motor would seem more likely. Those melted red JST-plugged wires look only too familiar. We bought some BT2s to be able to go up a gauge or 2 without going up to an XT30. 😉😊
@DavesFunRC3 ай бұрын
Yes, definitely a typo! 716 cordless is correct. I was surprised that the JST melted as I use that connector with my 1m EPP Spirit running 2S without issues.

@@DavesFunRC Yair, but the external size of the JST lead is NO guarantee of the wire gauge used within by our Owiental Fwends! 😉 Oh, and you've still got a ways to go on the "716 corDless!" 😜

Hello, nice little video, this Ranger flies very well, indeed. I bought the Ranger 1600 last week, I'm waiting for the electronics and I will finally be able to fly. I have a quick question, can the Ranger 2000 wings be installed on the Ranger 1600 fuselage? I currently fly with a glider from LIDL (stores in Europe). Wingspan of 86 cm, I modified it to be able to fly with it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bJTblqeLgZ2Ed80si=mAeWvliV6aSnOzCg Good flight ;-)

Hi, I've heard the 1600 flies well also. Sorry, I don't know if the wings are interchangeable with the 2000. I just did a quick search and looks like the 1600 has one aluminium centre spar and my 2000 has two. leehamptoncross.wordpress.com/2018/11/21/volantex-ranger-1600-2000/ So probably not. Let me know how your 1600 goes.

I wonder if a significantly larger tail would stabilize it since the aircraft is short coupled. I am about to build the kit myself so I might enlarge the tail and see what happens. I'll update as soon as I fly/crash it.
@trevbenn54 ай бұрын
Hi, that would be interesting to see. Let me know how it goes. I think the two things that influenced the stability of my Bobber were build related. When I glued the wing top on, I didn’t sit it flat on the table, resulting in a wing warp that I had to correct with hot steam. I had a better result when I built the Dancing Wings Firebird - same wing. It flies a lot better. The other tricky thing was getting the fuselage straight. I used superglue (recommended), to connect all the formers and stringers. I was out of practice building and got more glue on my fingers than the fuselage! This could have been straighter. Good luck!
@frankfantini68764 ай бұрын
Hi Dave did you glue the wings together and then screw them to the fuselage or are they glued on as well?
@DavesFunRC4 ай бұрын
Hi, I ended up just pushing the wing into the fuselage and not gluing it in. It seemed to stay in place OK and it provided a little bit of give on a hard landing. You can always glue it in later if this method doesn’t hold it in enough.
@theoztreecrasher26474 ай бұрын
Just a suggestion Dave. PLEASE get rid of the MUZAK when doing a voice-over! Actually (not being an "arty type") I've never understood the rationale of adding extra noise to these videos which no one can differentially adjust or remove. I understand that producers might feel that their efforts might absolutely need their choice of Audio Improvements but surely a note (and link) to the "essential" cacophony would allow those who agree to add it via their own mixer and headphones while the rest of us Philistines can decline the "full experience". Double the available viewer possibilities for less work? I AM assuming that there is no absolute requirement by the Toob that a selection from their archive MUST be used? 🤔 Apart from that rant, a very interesting and informative look at lightweight construction as per usual. 😉😊
