DIY is not the best way to do it, because the VATis still charged to you with no way of getting it back. The te fact you cannot get the certificates to allow you to sell the excess back to the power companies . I am able to do it myself but that 20% is a big dissuader along with the payback, although it might be possible that Octopus Energy might be playing ball very soon. However for a standalone off grid system I would do it myself.😊

Hi I’ve only payed VAT on the solar panels and in the long run DIY will definitely be the best way for me. Also I don’t need a certificate and could feed back to Octopus now but I choose not too as my aim it to be totally off grid one day and not have to rely on electricity companies full stop. 👍 cheers 😃

Well brilliant, this vid was exactly what I was looking for to do mine, and you have explained it spot on especially the relay wiring.The only thing I can say is, will the 48v have enough power on a 240v immersion? If I’ve understood your system correctly.
@CarJunkeez
@CarJunkeez 25 күн бұрын
The immersion is still being supplied with 240v, the 48v is just powering the relay switch and it’s the 48v that fluctuates then triggers the relay that has the 240v being switched through it. 👍 cheers

@CarJunkeez 27 күн бұрын
Hi, I have seen quite a few variations in these pumps, especially differences with the collar, some just have a washer and yes some with a slightly different star wheel, the key is to know if the pump has been modified in the past or not first before you start tweaking, and as we know most Landys have been messed with previously 😂

My inverter’s can’t feed back to the grid, I purchased them as my goal is to eventually be totally off grid, but now Octopus do some good tariffs in the U.K. and no license is needed now to feed back to the grid on Octopus too 😂

Great to see this done on a UK roof DIY, well done, great attention to detail. Thinking of doing similar, at least as much as I can, maybe up to the inverter, but guessing most sparkys wouldnt touch a part completed system
@CarJunkeez
@CarJunkeez 2 ай бұрын
Thanks mate 😃👍 to be honest if you can fit the panels and other stuff I think you’d be ok with the inverter too as my setup is a little more complicated due to the contactor I installed so yours would be just a simple hook up 👍 more sparkys in the U.K. will do stuff like this now as Octopus no longer need sparkys to have the extra credentials 👍 cheers

Hi, it’s a Wellon UP990 and the chip is a 44 pin PLCC 27c1024 and a PLCC44 surface mount socket, I make my own maps. You can use other programmers but some of the cheaper ones often do bad writes to 27c and as they are only write once it corrupts the chip but you can use other chips. Cheers 👍

I’ve found your other vids showing you machine the liners down (deck height?). I ran an MS2 Extra on my GTT but now prepping for Hillclimb in Australia. I’ve been told inlet ports are restrictive and see you’ve worked yours. I have the RE003 pushrods but found them too short? How did you get around this? PM if easier.
@CarJunkeez
@CarJunkeez 2 ай бұрын
Hi mate, yea I purchased the block they had already been decked by 1.5mm so I had to turn down my liners to match. Yes I ported my head and removed the end of the valve guides for better glow. The RE003 push rods are the correct length for me as it’s decked 1.5mm but I did have to open up the holes in the head with die grinder as they catch otherwise. I think on your setup you may be able to deck your rocker shaft mounts by about 1mm for best fit with the RE003 push rods. I’m not sure what compression ratio is now but it’s a fair bit higher 👍 cheers
