If the income tax law makes it mandatory to preserve the data for the past eight/ten years (which for all the taxpayers put together may weigh thousands of tons of papers), why the hell is the ECI in a hurry to permanently erase the electronic data pertaining to the elections???? After all what are they trying to hide? In fact they should aim to be more and more open and transparent with their actions... If not,the suspicion in the minds of the people about the functioning of the ECI would only go on increasing and this is definitely not a healthy sign for our democracy.. The supreme court needs to put its foot firmly down and compel the ECI to maintain dignity and credibility about its actions
