Why do you have two 10" helix units in that position? Do you have one on the troller as well?

small ice fishing type spoons with a wax worm or mousie; if you have no electronics to find a school, add a flasher spoon with no hooks about 18-24" within your line, above the spoon and bait.

Remotes go bad a lot. Phone app you give up everything you bought i pilot link for. I can't find a replacement remote without buying another trolling motor.

Yes Michigan has the best of fresh water the sport fishing. If you fish on the shore line of the great lakes. The only fresh water fish we don't have is stripper that I know of. St Joseph Michigan here mouth of the St Joseph river.

This is a great video, another idea is to use a remover with a double oval loop, this then can remove a gut or a lip hooked fish. Also I now squeeze the barb flat, with a pair of pliers, it makes it a lot easier to remove it. Especially if you catch some under sized fish. If you are good at working the rod, virtually no fish will get away. Certainly makes it a sporting way to fish. Nice video

Won't work if it is gut hooked, which a lot of fish are

Back in 1987, Al was introduced to the Crippled Herring , at a Detroit fishing show, and the rest is history. The Crippled Herring was originally designed for salmon in the Pacific Northwest. But, Al showed that it was equally effective for many other species in both fresh and salt water. This metal jig is manufactured by Rapala. Capt. Pete Rosko

I remember long ago when goby first appeared everyone wanted to kill them but I 've caught king coho and lake trout and I absolutely hated lakers . I would smoke 'em to get more oil out but anyway the flesh of all 3 of these species was white or off white . But those almost look more like ocean fillets , not red of course but much more edible .Personally I always liked brown trout ,they do have oil but the ones I caught were always top notch table fare. Great video , I'd like to try one of those pink lakers , the meat looks excellent .

Im having trouble drift jigging. It always ends up dragging instead of vertical jigging. I move up to an ounce but it still seems to drag behind boat. If you have any advice for me it would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance!
@matthewbeckwith663
@matthewbeckwith663 2 жыл бұрын
Hmmmm, have you tried heavier than 1 oz? If your jig isn't staying vertical, perhaps your drift speed is too fast? Have you tried a drift sock? Lastly, are you using a round braid that has less drag? Jig-specific braids are designed to reduce water resistance by being round in shape and thin in diameter. Me thinks you need to slow your drift, increase the jig weight, and use proper braid

Sure would like to catch one of those Cisco’s. Bucket list fish. I fish out of a kayak in a year long challenge and any help where to launch and fish in August would be great. We chartered out of Onekama back in the day for salmon out of our Bertrum 28’ but never tried for Cisco’s

Grew up in Michigan and fishing on the Great Lakes and tributaries. Cisco’s is one of the two fish I haven’t caught. The other being the whitefish. Will be making a trip to traverse city in August and my first time being home to Michigan in 10 years. Doing a year long challenge to catch as many fish as I can from my kayak and post videos. I am familiar with the area and vacationed in Elk Rapids for years. Where would someone using a kayak launch close enough to catch a Cisco? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The stinger hooks that Ben uses at the bigining of the video. Can anyone tell me more about those? Are the homemade or store bought? I would very much like to buy some.
@sgiff
@sgiff 3 жыл бұрын
Uh yeah, dummy that is only if the hook is already outside the mouth, who needs a hook remover for that. I bought the damn hook remover to get the ones that are lodged way inside. So you can just run the dehooker up to it's mouth and invert the hook. to do that you would have to have a hook that was on the edge of its mouth only.

I’ve got no spot lock, just drift sock and anchor- is this possible?
@charlestompkin6772

I jig for lakers around 70-90 feet and rarely throw and anchor (no drift sock either). Can be challenging in the wind- have to cast downwind so by the time the lure has sunk deep enough, the boat will be positioned directly above for jigging.

I don’t understand “underwater structure” it looks flat on the screen. Also if I don’t have spot lock can I drift or throw out a drift sock?

Caught a bunch this past year in east bay...Filleted them up and one of the worst fish ever...I must have done something wrong. Seems everyone else raves about them. What's the secret?

Bleed them, keep them on ice, fillet the dark meat off the skin side of fillet, cut into smaller pieces when you fry, or bake in butter and onions or smoke or pickle.

A piece of hot dog works best for big spring smallmouth , brand matters oscar meyer is a good choice.just a nice chunk on a 3/8 to 1/4 oz jig is good jig color doesn't matter.
