I love Fiji and the Fijian people. I have been there three times, I even bought a piece of land there for my future retirement. Though my life took a different path later on, I will never forget the time I have spent there.

The powdering is similar to ours in Outer Islands of Yap. We sprinkle powder on friends & relatives during celebrations as both an adornment and to chase away party-pooping spirits so to speak. Interesting!!!

Whatʻs with this annoying music? Why not play the music of the Solomon Islands, ie bamboo band music of Gizo.

Lovely photography bringing back special memories of the year I spent living and working on the island 1972/73. Rotuman singing is so gutsy and joyful with perfect harmonies echoing across the ocean.Thank you Ian.

I wanna know the story behind that split island🤔 where the rock is stuck in between those two island....anyone??
@thenamesniaa83842 жыл бұрын
Well from what I heard a shark challenged a turtle to a race from Rotuma to Tonga & back, the shark was being full of himself & then lost the race, the shark being filled with anger charged straight for the turtle, missed and hit the island causing the island to split so the people of the island put a rock in between. - that’s what I’ve been told, so apologies if I got wrong 😂
