Thanks! This is an older recording. I have since rigged up an old boom cymbal stand for my camera and now have an overhead view with slightly less crappy sound quality, lol. It's all ambient. I make no money from it. I'm not going to buy a bunch of microphones to get it sound better. I do it all for fun and for something to do.

Thanks, and thanks for listening! One of main reasons I'm recording so many songs is because I'm increasingly getting hit with hand issues these days. Most times they come out of nowhere from what are the most innocuous movements. Not sure how much longer I'll be able to play well, so I'm trying to do what I can while I can. I've played pretty regularly since I was very young, so there are tens of millions of hits on my hands, wrists, elbows, etc. Add on to that power tools and cranking wrenches and ratchets while working on cars, and I guess it all takes its toll after a while. I keep a very loose grip on my sticks and use mostly fingers and wrist, but even that is starting to go a little.

great tom tones dude
@DM-tc3gz2 ай бұрын
Thanks! I think I might be benefiting from a little of the original recording on the tone - hitting at the exact time is blending my sound with the recording. Or, they might sound ok because there isn't a whole lot of other drum noise going on when I'm hitting the toms? Not entirely sure, but I'm glad I was able to get a decent sound for a change, lol.

One of the best comments I've ever received to any of my vids, so, thank you!!! Usually, the comments are more like, "You should get some mics and a mixer." I do it all for fun and to allow friends and family to see/hear some of my playing. My drums are Tama Starclassic Birch/Bubinga. I've had them for over a decade. They're punchy, but still have a good bottom end. Pretty easy to tune also. Amazing drums at an affordable price. My snare is a Starclassic Maple 5.5 inch (with reinforcing rings) that I got around 2005.

Phil Collin’s did the drumming on that song I believe, you can hear his tempo in it. Always wondered what Jeff Porcaro woulda done with it?
@DM-tc3gz2 ай бұрын
According to wikipedia, Kenney Jones played on that album. Regardless, I agree that the simple, but cool, feel does have a bit of a Phil Collins vibe to it. I love Porcaro's playing, but I think it wouldn't have been the same...kind of like when you watch a good movie and can't imagine anyone other than the actor who actually performed, compared to the people the producers originally wanted to cast!

I've never been there, and will probably never end up going there, but the flavor of music from NOLA is so damn unique and catchy. I'm a huge fan of Stanton Moore on drums also. He is absolutely fantastic. I play, usually quite poorly, one or two Galactic songs. That's it. He's much too good for me, lol. The Star Turtle album by Harry Connick is another big favorite of mine.
