I love how no one and nobody will define what a light oil is for the laity. Google is no help at all. You can get a laboratory definition, so to speak, but not a common man's understanding of what type of product they mean.

I have a "high temperature" solid orange light after a few minutes of mowing. The outside temp is in the 40's and the battery is almost fully charged (and relatively new). Simply reseating the battery will get everything working again for about five minutes. Wash, rinse, repeat. Many, many, people with this same issue and EGO can't identify the problem.

My mower is not even a year old but I could not get the bolt off. I was going counter-clockwise and I pounded on it with a wrench and hammer for 10 minutes after soaking the bolt and washer with WD-40. It wouldn't budge. I ended up just sharpening the blade while still on the mower.

If you get one that works continuously, go for it. Not sure how you tell that though before purchasing it. I read review after review on this before buying it and in my opinion, if this is as good as it gets, I’d buy a petrol mower. When it works it is powerful and seems to last around an hour before recharging, even in some fairly thick grass. The problem I’ve had almost from the beginning is that for some reason I have to go an unclick and recllick the battery back in to get it going again, and it just stops for NO reason. I bought it new and it has been doing it pretty much from the second use onward - SOOO FRUSTRATING. Another issue which is partly mentioned in this video (and then somewhat glossed over) is that the cutting blade is less than satisfactory. I’m not a manicured lawn enthusiast, but this does not leave a neat finish and probably wouldn’t be pleasing to most average lawn cutters. All that said, if you don’t get the pull out and put back in battery issue, and you’re happy with a somewhat slashed lawn, you can do it for a whole hour with this puppy. :)

It just goes to show you how much research this guy has done with this product. He states that it has a (2) speed toggle switch when in fact it is a variable speed switch and is used when a lower speed for use is necessary. They have used this guy before on some other EGO power tools and it is quite clear he hasn't got a clue at all in knowing what he is talking about. If you are reviewing a power tool get someone who has at least some knowledge bout the tool. NOT BELIEVABLE.

Why on earth do we have to put up with these people who have no idea at all in demonstrating a power tool such as this? People watch these videos with interest to find out the potential of the power tool not to have a dumb female who is quite clueless and a soy boy attempt to show us with such a lame attitude with no idea in hell how to use it. You can see straight up they haven't got a clue at all. Absolutely disgraceful display of ignorance with this power tool.

I'm just completing our second summer with all my EGO lawn gear. They are awesome tools. And I just bought the inverter so if I lose power I can use my EGO batteries to power small electrical items. How cool is that.

Thanks for the review! The EGO trimmer is definitely impressive. The unfortunate part for US customers is that the US version of this trimmer does not come with the quick release handle that your trimmer has. The US model has screws instead of the convenient quick release lever your model has. This model is currently not sold in the US. You cannot buy it. Ego will not sell a handle to you with this feature if you are in the US. Also, the US model does not come with a shoulder strap. It would be nice if US customers could get these same useful items, but as of now, the US model is inferior to the Australian version.

Order a UK version from an overseas dealer if the handle means that much to you.

hanks for the review guys. Unfortunately, the exact trimmer you are reviewing is not available for the US market. The Quick Release handle is not offered on US models (apparently to keep cost lower). Also, the US models do NOT come with a shoulder strap. The shoulder strap is only available through Grainger.com for $18 I need the quick release handle (my son and I will both be using the trimmer), so I'm looking for a third party option that will fit the trimmer.

I was curious to where you guys got the shoulder strap from and the quick release adjustment handle for the string trimmer I would be interested in purchasing one if you could point me in the right direction thanks. Great Review.

Hi, I totally agree with everything you said. I feel the brushless version is the equal of any petrol brushcutter I have ever owned and markedly better than most. The motor has so much torque I really feel the unit (and operator) would benefit from the addition of bullhorn hand grips. With the small rounded grip the cutting edge can easily get away from you and cut where you may not want to cut. With the ease of starting and variable speed control plus the use of the included harness, I would never be tempted to purchase a petrol model ever again. I have used this cutter in quite heavy vegetation (half-metre high cobblers pegs plus weeds) and never had an issue. It is strong enough to use with a blade instead of a line but I suppose that is up to Ego.
