Idk if it was just a bad voice day for him, or the start of his granuloma, but the vocals here sound a little grittier than early or modern John. Sounds like he’s literally tearing his vocal cords up. Not bad quality, just sounds like it hurts.

Two years ago, my girlfriend broke up with me, and it broke my heart. It was one of the worst things I’ve ever experienced. I deserved it, though, because I took our relationship for granted and never made an effort. I remember that after we broke up, we were walking, and I saw some flowers. It hit me that I had never sent her flowers, so I told her that and apologized. She just shrugged. Last year is a blur for me-I can hardly remember what happened. This year, I met someone. She was beautiful, smart, and funny. Without meaning to, I started liking her, and she invited me out. Over the months, we kept hanging out, always as friends. I never tried anything more, nor did I tell her how I was starting to feel. Besides that, I didn’t feel like our relationship progressed. We were companions who spent time together, and even though we got along well, I don’t think we’ve even become closer friends. Or maybe we have-I’m not sure. I feel confused. Today, I asked my friends, and they told me that the best thing would be to distance myself. They feel like she only reaches out to me because she has a good time with me, but that beyond that, she’s not interested. Or maybe I missed my chance by being so insecure and not making a move. I’m listening to this song, and I feel like writing to her and telling her how I feel, but I’m scared of getting my heart broken again.

@ it depends I guess. If you guys only hang out and party and have a shallow relationship , I’d say it’s not worth it. But if the two of you connect on a deeper level and you feel your soul mates , you should say something because what if she was just too scared but felt the same way?

@@KaylaRoland-u3o over the year we share incredible moments. And I thought I find someone special, but she just start losing interest or maybe she doesn't want to get atacched, I don't know. And my friends, my brain, the videos I've been watching, they all tell me not to writes her, just wait an hope that she felt the same way she will reach me out. But maybe I should go against the grain. Maybe like you said shes afraid, because I know someone broke her heart, just like mine. Or maybe I didn't get the clues and I should try to kiss her or something, but I'm really oblivious about indirects and social clues, and maybe she just get tired, that happened to me before, because I overthink everything. I don't know... I have a big mess on my head right now

@@x0xgregx0xso what happened? My two cents is that if she spends that much time with you it’s crossed her mind and she’s waiting for you to say something. At least if you bring it up you will know and then can either try a relationship or move on confidently because you spoke your heart and mind. If not this girl then the next one and if it’s the next girl you will have practice saying how you feel.

I am 70 yrs old and he is one of the most amazing musicians that I have ever encountered, including all the Floyds, Supertramps, Dylans etc that I grew up with. I think he's a genius and this has long been one of my favourite John Mayer songs.

I have a story to tell. One month ago I wanted so bad to wright a message to a girl I didn’t know at the time. So I listened to this speech and it motivated me to do it. We spent one month getting to know each other but we never got further. But tonight I was watching live shows on my TV and this one came up again, it made me realize how much love deserves a hard try. I wrote back to the girl telling her I was coming to her home to kiss her. She was so surprised but she came out and we kissed under the rain like in a movie. Just to say that love exists, it’s just hidden behind the fear of the other and the lack of confidence. Music is a reminder that it’s true. Thank you so much John ❤️
