Little known factoid nugget. Numan rhymes with human but you can’t use it in scrabble as it’s a noun!

The ending when Gary is so terrified to walk on stage and with Gemma's reassurance for him to push on is heart breaking breaking but awe inspiring to confront his demons. I thank Gary from the bottom of my heart on giving me the inspiration to create music for myself and walking into that instrument shop back in Manchester 1996 and buying my first second hand Analogue synthesizer a Roland Juno 6 that I still own to this day ❤

I just love that guy. He´s not only one of the most important musicians in my life, but also such an incredibly beautiful soul.

I was a mate of Gary at school. Great effort of a doco! You’ve portrayed him as a decent, lovely bloke from a lovely family. His mum Beryl used to cut my hair and his, in the Bowie style. His old man spoiled him rotten with a sound proof room to practise with his Gibson Les Paul and Rickenbacker base. Back then, Gary was teaching himself music. Great guy. Delighted for his success!

C’mon lil buddy, that’s a lovely story but so obviously made up! As if an electronic star like Gary would have a mum called Beryl! I doubt he lived on a council estate! Pull the other one! 😂🤣💀

I'm fed up with all these negative comments towards Navi!! Try dancing in your late 50s/60s people, I bet you'd struggle. 😂 Navi is good in his own way. If you don't like it, then tough! Keep on scrolling. He's a brilliant and friendly guy. I've met him in person. I bet if Michael were still here with us today, he wouldn't be as good as he used to. It's called ageing people! Nobody is good as they used to when they get older.

First track that clicked with me was Do you need a service, b side track, maybe from Are friends electric or down in the park. One of my brothers played it and that was my connection. I always liked rock from early age, and that track had it, the hook and style got me. Did take me couple of listens of Replicas album to really appreciate the synth sound back then. Growing up on T.Rex and then very early punk, the sounds numan brought to many of us not aware of synths too much was stunning. A true legend, and numan brought a big connection to my brother who introduced my ears to numan. No longer have my brother but the memories live on due to numans music.

We loved you Gary. You were mesmerising for me in my teens when I was feeling dark and morose. And now nearly 60 I’m still mesmerised. It’s ageless music. There will be nothing like it ever

Numan saved my life ... foe better or worse. He shared his abstruse ideas, when no one else did. He was an angel sent from somewhere. That he sang his esoteric lyrics in the face of such assholes, he is a true angel. I hope he has access to angelic power, he deserves it. A sub-order genius... he lives in another dimension of his own design.. . Normal numbers cannot define him. We are both pilots, what kinship. But ultimately, if John Foxx loves your art, you are amongst the coolest people on the planet.

What a man. Britain really does produce some talent. Huge shout from the US. Loving Gary Numan and also other various UK electronica based acts like Faithless, The Prodigy, UNKLE, Aphex Twin, Leftfield, Burial, Underworld, Orbital, Goldie, FSOL, Portishead, Chemical Brothers, Squarepusher, Stereo Mcs, Massive Attack, The Bug, ALLFLAWS

its an odd thing - fame, celebrity, the highs and extreme lows of a creative performer. Personally I don't think human beings are equipped to be able to deal with the nature of it at this level, its not something we are supposed to be able to cope with and their are few who manage to do it and remain unscathed - maybe a handful? I think this is why the act of performance and being a performer was regarded as fairly average until the 1920s and the birth of modern cinema- which created the phenomenon of the 'star' which then spread out into music and television. prior to this being and actor or musician was no big deal, in fact in the time of Shakespeare being and actor or performer was regarded as not much better than being a prostitute! I think it would be better for everyone if it stayed as a more reasonable profession and not the one based on 'fame' that the media created but the actual creativity and skills of the musician and/or performer.

Gary’s fans are so passionate and loyal. It’s not my music but Gary headlined a festival I was at and he (and his fans) blew the bloody doors off. It’s was a blast. 😂

Grohl is correct about the British music press in the early 1980s ! They were indeed a Bitchfest captained by smug music & lifestyle journalists whom thought they were the word of god yet proclaimed to hate smug superstars or anyone finding popularity in music . I don’t hate Oasis but It’s interesting how they’ve chosen one ( Hewitt )from that era as their approved spokesperson !

Ive been a Tubeway Army/Numan fan since 1978. His music has changed so much in the last 40 odd years, i think his new stuff is bleeding fantastic. Long may he reign. And a big thank you to Gemma for taking such good care of him...without her i dont think he would still be making his unique style of music. Love you Gary.

He's amazing. I had the pleasure meeting him unfortunately I had low blood sugar and he recognized it and he went on his tout bus and got me some juice from his fridge and his drummer put me in his car rental so I could cool off cuz it was extremely hot that night waiting for him to come out from his concert. I loved how he gotten darker with his music. He had his family with him on tour but his mother had Already died, but his wife and his dad. He needs their support, he finds his grounding within with them. I think it's awesome.

This man is a genius, it really touched me in the end, everybody thinks he's fab, but still he's got this stage fever before Wembley, like as if it was his first concert, but once on stage the man the legend stands there. And not to forget his close family who are the pillars, the foundation of his being. A true Artis with an original sound, something we often mis in these times…

Gary's music is absolutely unique and unforgettable. The synthizers just soar, and crackle with electricity, yet his songs are very emotional as well.A true musical genius who deserves the adulation he gets from his fans, and I am one since 1979 after hearing Are Friends Elecric the first time.
