Doesn't need to be a diesel to have a cold start... just have to start it while the block is cold. Big v8s start with higher rpm cold over warm. It screams on that first start of the day. It's fine if you don't appreciate it but a lot do.

@@TheReaper88 yes any engine that starts in the cold is ...an engine starting in the cold. The modern gasoline engines like that do not struggle, and are not challenging to start in the cold ...which is what the whole "cold start" thing is about. Old school diesels were an absolute beast to get started in the cold. Some of them required such extensive work as literally building a fire underneath them just to heat the block up enough for it to start. Later models came what the wood burning furnace built in to the vehicle that you would have to load start and burn before you get ever even attempt to start the vehicle. Modern versions have electric heating coils that will heat the engine up to prepare it to start in the cold. THOSE are "cold starts" but that engine.... That's going to start up with no problem, regardless of the temperature ...as long as it's not like freakin "Arctic winter" cold levels.

@mrfixitusa6165 yes. I'm a truck driver. I know what a cold start for a diesel is lol. My only point was people still enjoy the high rpm of a cold start on a modern engine. Me being one of them with the thousands of others who watch my videos.

@@TheReaper88 I don't disagree with that my only contention is that it doesn't qualify in the same class as what is always been known as "cold start" because there's nothing difficult, no work involved, no knowledge required, no extra steps to be taken... There's literally nothing different done for starting a modern gasoline engine on an 80°f day, from a -20°f day.

Yea it's just the enjoyable sound. Some people just enjoy the sound of an aggressive or loud exhaust especially when starting with a cold block
