I agree, I prefer the chook thighs or wings. Where do you buy these jars from today? I bought a couple years ago when they were well-stocked in the stores. The price of them today is ridiculous. btw, great video. I keep watching videos like yours till I'm confident enough to run my pressure canner :)

@wildchook745 Once you start you'll be hooked 😁 Lol, I bought my last jars from Temu, I can't buy them anywhere else under $5 each 😵💫 I think I bought a box of 12 for around $35 so that's about $2.90 something each, still a bit dear but better than the local Supermarket (IF you can find them????)

This is something I would like to do in the near future. I just have to break into my pressure canner to start with. I'm nervous about it why I haven't done it yet. I agree its free if you do it yourself. btw, I love your new kitchen. That's a lot of stock, well done.
@KymsHomesteadАй бұрын
@wildchook745 Go ahead and break that canner in. Once you get over the initial nervousness, you will wonder why on earth it took so long to do??? 😄 then you will start to cann EVERYTHING!!! But if you don't like it, don't cann it, ONLY do small batches until you know if you like it or not ☺️ Good luck 😉

Looking good, Kym. Hope you're having a good time in Adelaide. The last couple of days have been too hot for my liking. I look forward to some cool changes soon. I don't think I've been to Semaphore beach before but have to Glenelg a couple of times. Largs Pier hotel is where Jimmy Barnes band "Cold Chisel" did a couple of gigs at back in the 70s. Pf I have to, love the fresh cream doughnuts but the plain doughnuts are as good. Country meat pies are yum. That cabin looks better than that last motel. It's cleaner and spacious.

@wildchook745 Adelaide was nice, got to meet up with some rellies at a nice pub, couldn't tell you where as I have no idea 😅, yes, the motel was OK, it's nothing flash but the meals are fabulous 😋😋😋 and right next to Krispy Cream 😋😋. Semaphore Beach was absolutely beautiful. All I wanted to do was grab a load of that sand for Barney to play in. He would have loved it, too 😂

To help with pantry bugs, you can use Peppermint and/or cedar oils. Just pop some on a sponge/cloth/cotton ball and wipe down walls and surfaces. You can also put cedar balls through your pantry, just as you would in your clothes wardrobe.

Make loads of jam, most people would love a gift of home made jam. A couple of years ago our Victoria plum had a bumper crop, made plum jam and still eating it, given some as gifts and to family and it's great. Your food store is like Aladine's cave. Take care do keep off the ladders.
@KymsHomestead2 ай бұрын
@maggsh4137 lol, yes, my family has forbidden me to climb ladders 🪜 😅 I have a whole shelf of jams, and my friends and family have a ton. I have given them. I make up a large basket of preserves every year and give it to each family as my gift to them. Each basket is chosen with care to suit that families tastes and needs/likes.

We still have about 3 weeks of winter here but the frosts have usually gone by now, unfortunately we had quite a cold snap a week after planting the zucchini, but I do have the other 2 plants and more seeds germinating 🙂
