Do you have access issues sometimes? My wife has a service dog and very rarely have we ever had a problem going anywhere with it. 99% of the time people don't understand the ADA laws regarding service animals and are willing to learn. 1% of the time they SAY they know the law - but don't - and aren't willing to listen or learn. We've made flyers and business cards with ADA laws and URLs to the ADA website itself which covers both handlers and business owners' rights.

Glad to see another rider with a service dog. I'm currently in the application phase (program dog is the only viable option for me - I've considered all options), so I'm trying to get an idea of what it's like to take a SD out when riding. Do you have any rattlesnakes, coyotes, prairie dogs, deer, cactus, fire ants, etc., where you ride? And glad to see other western riders who wear helmets - I've gotten enough concussions coming off a horse _with_ a helmet on, and a helmet has outright saved me from several more, so I never ride without one.

Made me very sad to see that you have an e-collar for that sweet service dog. It is never ok to deliver a shock to your dog and good trainers are against it because it is painful and makes your dog nervous. It’s like using a bit on a horse.

Body dysmorphia is a disorder that affects how you see yourself. In my case (I’m pretty sure I have it) if I tried to wear something that normally I feel looks good on me, sometimes I may see it a different way and not want to wear it. Some days are better than others though. Hope this helped!

As she can train it herself and it’ll take between 18 months to up to 3 years to train one, and she’s had Kokie for awhile!

im getting a puppy in about 3 months (if i can prove i'll be responsible) and i'll be training them to be a service dog. im doing a homeschool program this year so i'll have plenty of time to train. if all goes well the dog will be ready to come to school with me next year (my freshman year) and i'm so scared that i will mess up in training or the school wont let me bring them. Does anyone have any advice? (he or she will be a black or yellow Labrador in case anyone is wondering)

how beautiful! I'm currently training my own assistance dog (Australian here, service dogs are better known as assistance dogs in Australia). I am about to start back at Uni and he's only 6 months old but is already well trained. he comes to work with me (vet nurse) so he gets plenty of desensitisation as well. thank you for the wonderful video showcasing what it's like to attend school trips with a service dog! I hope you're both well

200000% worth it! I’ve got 2 pairs each for all three of my dogs…only one is a service dog. We’ve got friends who have them for their dogs too and love them

Congratulations on the new puppy! No worries, don't let anyone tell you getting that vest was a bad idea because at least you are planning ahead and you have it for when he is older and won't have to panic being like "I need to get him a vest now" Good luck on the new puppy training adventure.

Thats exciting, congratulations on the soon to be new addition to the family. Just out of curiosity, what made you choose the snauzer breed? Also will he be living with your family at home when you go to college? I would imagine that he’d be too young to go in the dorm with you while you’re in class and such.

That place is next level illegal... smh, they need to take those signs down and say service dogs only, and also stop letting their pet roam around the restaurant like that! It’s not fair to even not allow pets if they themselves have a pet, it’s especially wrong for them to deny service dogs.

This is so reassuring for me, I start school in August with my SD. She is still people excited and dog excited. Shes doing great with her training. I'm so nervous for when I start school and stuff.
