SA has amazing talent, right there in the CTN shacks and cape flats. Beautiful to see all this amazing talented musicians. I wish I had a soft copy I can watch it wherever I wana watch it. Great work 👌🏾

I remember when I watched this when I was young. She was beautiful and curvy and had a strong personality. But it was her beauty that killed her in the end. Her crime was being beautiful

i really feel like this movie deserve a world stage.... i dont it gets the deserved appriciation in south africa and africa as a whole.... this is a masterpiece beyond words

What an outstanding and refreshing view of this opera! By the way, I've always longed to hear a Bantu language in opera. They always sound very musical and full of vowels and open syllables, perfect for lyric singing. ;-)

+flaviawk It's a movie called U-Carmen eKhayelitsha. The movie is a modern remake of Bizet's 1875 opera Carmen. It was shot entirely in Xhosa, and combines both music from the original opera with traditional African music conducted and directed by the British conductor, Charles Hazlewood. It takes place in the Cape Town township of Khayelitsha. U-Carmen was translated into Xhosa by Andiswa Kedama and Pauline Malefane, who also play Amanda and Carmen in the movie, respectively.
