Thank you for sharing your journey and all the information. I just found your channel and subscribed. I am brca1 but got ambushed by cancer before I knew anything. There is almost no cancer in my very huge family and I had zero symptoms but got ovarian cancer. Thank God despite the tumor being huge (there's a lot of space in our bellies before it becomes noticeable which is why it is so dangerous), it was still at stage 2. So I had my entire reproductive system taken out and finished 6 rounds of chemo not too long ago. My doctor told me, mastectomy is not necessary at this point and I went like ... pheew I had this terrible cancer, I'm not getting the breast cancer also. I just did an MRI and there's a mass in each breast, they're very small and they can't tell what it is, it doesn't necessarily have to be cancer. So I'll be getting an ultrasound within the next two weeks, but I think I'll be getting a mastectomy regardless what the results are going to be. The MRI and, to be honest, your videos have given me the necessary push to go down that route. This whole story has been very traumatic because again, I felt like I was ambushed and robbed by cancer and never in a million years would have expected something like that. I'm a single mom, so I can't have children anymore and I hate being forced into early menopause. But I guess there's no choice in a situation like that and I'll do anything to be here with my boy. I never liked my breasts anyway. I'm terrified to go under the knife again. Was the surgery painful? I'm 37 by the way, started having my first symptom, which was intense abdominal pain that sent me straight to ER, roughly 4 months before my 37th b-day. Keep putting out these great videos, they're helping a lot with navigating, making good decisions, information etc. Thanks for doing this. This conversation is so helpful with this challenging situation 💗

The DIEP FLAP recovery was brutal. But after one year of recovery, I am now onto the next phase - fine tuning of nipple recon, reshaping that recon breast and also doing a skin sparing mastectomy of the other tiny A cup natural breast with immedicate recon with an implant. Feeling nervous but also excited that finally I might be able to wear a bra properly without having uneven breasts. And not having to do mammograms anymore is also something I look forward to. Could I ask if you started off with large breasts being able to direct to implant smoothly? I have tiny boobs A cup and not sure how I am going to be able to do direct to implant with my right breast after mastectomy. My diep flap left breast is huge 😂 like a C.

Hey I don't know if you are ever gonna read this, but I was diagnosed with Cowden Syndrome, had also positive Pten-testing at age 16, which means that I have a 85% lifetime risk of breast cancer. I already developed mastopathy and had my second (benign) breast nodule diagnosed about 2 weeks ago. I am all done and so ready for surgery. I am 21 years old now and told my gyn that I can't do this any longer. She said that she understands and now we gonna have a conversation about surgery on August 3rd. I am so scared and nervous but this is who I truly am....

@@FindingInnerPearce Hi, I’m having my surgery in November. (Nipple-preserving, no tissue expanders, under pec) Contemplating going a little smaller so as to prevent stretching / pain. The (plastic) surgeon’s assistant said we can discuss this @ pre-op & there will be a variety of sizes to choose from & the nurses will translate the cc’s into cup sizes so it’s easier to relate. I used to be 36C @ barely 5’ tall they were too big for my body. Had Reduction surgery in 2020 to a 36B & I only got one year w/ no “false positive” w/ breast mri biopsy. Strong family history. Would love your thoughts on the sizing topic; if going smaller might benefit in some way since I’m such a small frame.

Hi, I am having a double Mast w/reconstruction the same day. (Implants) I am 78, not really worried about the surgery, but apprehensive regarding recovery. You really think it will take me all summer to feel "fairly" normal again? May 10th is my surgery. Neither the breast surgeon or the plastic surgeon has told me much about this, only that it "is a good decision" to have this surgery.
@Sageylove2 жыл бұрын
Hi Beverly! It personally took me 4-6 weeks to get my stamina back, then about 3-6 months (at least) for my breasts to start shaping up. I know it can vary person by person, but I would expect (if you’re like me) by mid-July you’ll be feeling better! Definitely ask your doctor as it is really case by case.

Sending you love! It’s a huge decision, and I’m so sorry insurance is being difficult. Many insurances cover preventative care, and this is considered part of that since you are BRCA 1 positive. If definitely talk to someone if you can! I’ve had issues with high deductibles recently and it’s unfortunate - part of why I haven’t had fat grafting yet.
