if i can recall correctly, the coyotes were in a playoff position before the new year. Then relocation talks absolutely rattled them and they fell in the standings. The Utah hockey team should (at the very least) be a playoff team next year.

All the Colorado fans will wine about how we stole from their precious lacrosse team, if we go Yeti, we're still stealing from the Avalanche. Outlaws is "too little league" for people, etc...Whatever name we pick people will complain. I'm actually cool with whatever at this point. Just give us an identity and brand to cheer for! Until they get some branding, I like having a Utah-related artist. Post Malone would be fun, but I'm not sure how many of his songs make great goal songs--I think you picked one of the better ones. Maybe On Top of the World by Imagine Dragons too. Panic at the Disco could give some good options too.

Good idea to talk about goal songs! I’m definitely excited to see what they end up going with.

So what I really want to see is them bring in some veteran guys who have lots of experience to teach the kids what it takes to win at the playoff level. Would love to see Trevor Lewis play a year or two here, I know he is on the tail end of his career but he has won 2 cups and the local connection is a cool thing. As far as Dmen who fit the bill other than Montour you have a few names like Pesce, Zadorov, and Dumba who could call fit pretty well.

I could also see a tie back to Utah using the KIller’s or something. I think the Killers lead singer is really popular in the state.

Hard to say without knowing a team name...but if the team becomes the Yeti....a Star wars Chewbacca sound effect might work. I'm a fan of Zeppelin's Immigrant song. "Come from the land of the ice and snow" being an NFL Vikings fan I hear it often on game days! Love it and it would go with. Yeti mascot! No idea if it's already used in the NHL arenas. What about another local group? Royal Bliss?

Yeti is insanely bad...like childish. Salt Lake Golden Eagles is a sick name. Utah Grizzlies is the best so far. But Utah Yeti's sounds like my 12 year old named them. Like if you ask a 13 year old to come up with a name....it would be Yeti.

Ryan Smith brought up the Yeti on the Pat McAfee show and had the same thoughts so I think you're on to something here. Still holding out for Outlaws with a copper/southern Utah vibe.
