Hello Aruna, If the engine is running as it should then the problem will be with the alternator. Unfortunately there could be a few problems that could cause this, from the wiring or control unit or even the windings within the alternator. If you can send me your alternator make and model i can send over some technical information which may help

Thanks for your comment, cold starts can pose a problem to a lot of engine models. We would always recommend connecting up the engine heater (fitted to all of our new generators and most used sets) which will maintain a constant warm temp. in the engine when not in use.

I know its kind of a late reply, but i had 2 things in mind: suitable diesel generator can form a part of an off grid power system, which would include a battery bank, maion control panel and and perhaps some renewables like solar panels or whatever. Idea would be to run the generator when lot of power is needed and for the rest, run it only to charge the battery bank, which you would then use throughout the day. renewables could do recharging as available.
