Thank you, but the railway tracks were destroyed Unfortunately, we have to inform you that the Brienz Rothorn Bahn was severely damaged by a massive storm. The rain and thunderstorm cell that fell over Brienz on Monday evening, August 12, 2024, caused devastating damage to our historic railway line. The damage is so significant that we had to suspend operations for the rest of the season for safety reasons - a situation that has never occurred in the more than 130-year history of our railway. Despite the major challenges that lie ahead, we are determined to repair the damage as quickly as possible and get the Brienz Rothorn Bahn back on track. However, this process will require time and significant financial resources. That's why we're asking for your support today. Every donation or purchase of a voucher helps to secure the future of the BRB. The aim is to resume operations from May 2025 to Planalp and from June 2025 to Rothorn Kulm.

Das sind keine offenen Wasserschleusen, sondern aktiver Hochwasserschutz bei Stauanlagen. Man unterscheidet dabei in passiven Hochwasserschutz(z.B überläufe und Falltrichter) und aktiven Hochwasserschutz(z.B. Wehre), der eine Automatisierung des Wasserablasses zu lässt. Hier in diesem Fall ist der Hochwasserschutz als Wehr vorhanden. In normalen Zeiten staut das Wehr das Wasser an, so dass eine gleichbleibende Menge an Wasser durch die Turbinen des Kraftwerkes fliesen kann. Bei Hochwasser werden diese geöffnet, so dass ein "Rückstau" der Flutwelle vermieden wird.

Danke für den Input🙏Wasserkraftwerk:Die Wehre stauen das Wasser an, so dass für die Stromerzeugung eine Fallhöhe von rund 8.80 m entsteht. Wird die maximale Durchflussmenge der Turbinen überschritten, öffnen sich die Wehre. Dafür werden über sogenannte Windwerke und starke Ketten die Ober- und Unterschützen der drei 20 m breiten Wehrfelder bewegt. Mit der Wehranlage wird sichergestellt, dass die Pegel im Oberwasser stabil bleiben und die anströmende Wassermenge auch im Hochwasserfall sicher bewältigt werden kann.
