just got it in the mail. extremely loud and it comes with these weird clear rubber adaptors that don't fit into anything. no instructions on how to use them and the video above doesn't show them. rather confusing. one of the other comments from exped says there's another smaller version coming out in the winter so looks like the one I just got in the mail today will be obsolete in just a few months. rather odd.
@ExpedLLC

The smaller version coming soon won't be as powerful as the MegaPump since it will be primarily intended for backpacking. The MegaPump is best suited for our larger mats like the MegaMat. Those malleable pieces of plastic tubing are our "Universal Valve Adapter" www.expedusa.com/products/universal-valve-adapter?_pos=3&_psq=univers&_ss=e&_v=1.0 that's meant to help bridge the gap between our standard pump/valve size and other "twist valve" style mats.

I regret buying my exped hammock. Just how complicated should it be to add a normal mosquito net after suspending the hammock? This suspension system is unnecessarily complicated, inflexible regarding size of trees and distance between them, and I've had to look up videos online on how to use this even though I'm very comfortable using "normal" hammocks. I know what I'm buying next time I get a hammock, and it's not exped.

When I'm filling up the mat using this method, at a certain point there's no more air going in, even if I push hard on the pump bag. However, at that point the mat is somewhat full, but not as firm as I would like it (heavier person, I need more pressure in the mat). How do I get extra air in?
@ExpedLLC
@ExpedLLC 15 күн бұрын
Hello, thank for your comment. Your mat should be able to be inflated desired firmness. If there is air pushing through the pump bag it should continue to inflate the mat. If this isn't happening it could indicate a leak somewhere in the mat. It’s good to check that both your valves have their green and orange “Flappers” and O-rings and that they are seated properly. Make sure the deflate valve cap is closed while the mat is being inflated and that both valve caps are closed when the mat is in use. If the problem continues, follow this link www.exped.com/en/contact to reach out to your local distributor for assistance troubleshooting the issue.

Just a FYI. I have owned so many Exped mats , Megamat 10, Megamat duo, Synmat HL duo, regukar synmat Duo, Dura 3r Dou, Dura 5r Duo. SO if you like their mats you obviously appreciate their refinement. The idea that in the Synmat series the tube diameters were chosen very carefully to give a bed like experience. The MegaMat series as well has picked the right durometer foams with the right amount of give dialed in buy coring them just right. The tricot stretch again is part of how it sleeps. So I made an all out attempt at the perfect wilderness bed. The idea was a perfect sleep for two people with widely different mattress requirements in the same bed. I woud just use hte Megamat like a sleep number foam core. First off. Yes Megamat duo is big- its essentially a "Full Size bed" . but that can be a bit too close for comfort if you are sleeping with a woman who is not a girlfriend. SOoooo. I took an Megamat 10 and added it to the Duo sorta exactly like you see behind the guy in teh above video. That makes a 77.75" by 82" mattress that falls somewhat in between a California King and an Eastern King size mattress. If you like a queen size just use (2) Megamat 10 LW and that gives you 60 x 77.75 Or close to a 60 X 80 Queen size. SO ..a king size mattress- held together with nylon 3 inch webbing. But then I had (2) twin 3" thick latex toppers and (2) 2" thick twin latex toppers that were cross drilled. She had bigger hips so she got teh more plush 3" on top to megamat and 2" below mega mat. I did 2" on top and 3" on the bottom for my half. The using (2) 10 Liter MSR Dromedary bags I put 200 degree water in them, because 212 can be cause the plastic seals to leak, I placed these atop the megamat under the foam toppers. Covered with a thick down comforter and cashmere blanket underneath. Then cooked lobsters for dinner giving the MSR bags 2-3 hours to let the heat permeate the entire bed , topper , and comforters. I could further adjust the firmness and give on her side by letting some air out of her mattress so as a side sleeper I could see her spine was perfectly in a horizontal line. Because me side was independent of hers I could do the same. I called this "SuperBed". And yes it was ridiculous overkill- on purpose, to set the bar and then try to get as close as possible with as little gear weight and volume and cost as possible She says she has never had a better night sleep in her life and this was in sequoia national forest. I used a humongous Dana Designs South Pole overland Bag for the 3" toppers and a Polo duffle bag for the 2" toppers. I also slept like a Log. and it was 45 degrees out and were so toasty. The problem was trying to extract her from the HEATED bed for breakfast and then after breakfast 20 hours later. The water kept the bed warm well into the following afternoon. Exped can give you amazing sleeping experiences. Now I am refining EV camping using their Mattresses- and have a stowable mini duo sleep system that is flat out amazing that can fit inside a briefcase! So even if you go the other way you can still be comfortable. This never leaves my Tesla Model X so whenever I pass by a National Park or nice spot of Bureau of Land Management land, or even a ocean sunset, I am ready in about 5 minutes. I'm further refining this concept to "Solve camping" so you don't feel homeless with a sack...and nothing in my kit will get low use or end up in a land fill for at least 25-30 years or more. Because IMHO most pedestrian camping gear sees less than 2-15 days of use before it is replaced or broken by the average camper, which means most camping stores are just filling landfills. I hope to change all that forever. And Exped as far as I can see is the right choice of mattress to sleep on. The best part of this system is that it quickly converts from car camping to lightweight hiking. The way I set up the mattress- with layers (now lightweight and multi purpose), I have "total coma sleep" every night GF's prefer sleeping in there compared to super pricey hotels and dealing with check-in and late check out hassles. And yes- I solved the shower issues too- I have been doing this since 2017 and never had to go without a shower for more than 24 hours. I have a Dometic Fridge that goes in the sub trunk too. Its like an instant B van.

Is the stay removable? Can you also make a 80litre version for super remote extended adventures and packrafting please!
@ExpedLLC
@ExpedLLC Ай бұрын
The stay is removable/adjustable. Larger pack sizes are being considered, though the Lightning would likely need a redesigned frame for the added weight of that much gear. For packrafting, something like our Tempest Duffle (www.exped.com/en/products/gear-bags/tempest-70) might be better suited to the situation (though it depends on how far one would be carrying it in "backpack mode")

Mine is brand new yesterday. Mine won’t inflate??! I did just what you did and it’s not inflating??
@ExpedLLC
@ExpedLLC 2 ай бұрын
This is normal with mats that have been rolled-up for a while (such as brand new mattress) and should go away with regular use. Essentially, the memory foam inside the mat has gotten "used" to its rolled-up and compressed shape, but all it takes to make the memory foam “remember” its full-mattress shape again is to inflate the mat with the pump until it’s firm so that the internal foam can stretch back out to its normal state. Subsequent uses should see quicker and “fuller” self-inflation after that, as the foam inside has been re-stretched out by inflation. The mat shouldn’t suffer from the compression issue again unless it’s rolled-up and put away for a long period of time.

Doesn’t water get in when the bubbles go out?
@ExpedLLC
@ExpedLLC 2 ай бұрын
Not unless the puncture is especially large and the mat rapidly deflates. The volume of air in the mat is decreasing as it leaks, so the air bubbles aren't being replaced by drips of water so long as the pressure inside the mat is higher than the pressure of the water surrounding it.

We recently bought a lyra III, and tested it on a weekend hike. There was a lot of rain, and we had problems to keep the inner tent dry... In the morning, there were drops on the inside of the outer tent, which is already strange? But the inner tent was mostly dry. BUT, when breaking down the tent, the outer tent ALWAYS touches the inner tent, ending up with a wet inner tent... We tried different approaches to break down the tent, but couldn't find a method where the outer tent didn't touch the inner tent... This is not what you expect from a tent with this price :/ We are a bit dissapointed.
@Messiahs
@Messiahs 18 күн бұрын
By every word you explained it got clearerer and clearer that you are a beginner. The tent had nothing to do with any of your problems. 1. Wet inside outtents are normal from condensation, especially if it rained a lot. The only thing a tent can help you there is being better ventilated, but it cant prevent it. 2. Yes taking down a wet tent will have you get stuff wet, either wait taking it down for it dry off a bit if you have the time, or whipe it or take the inner bit down first. 3. Before blaming gear, do some research, because your camp ground does influence your tents performance a lot. The riverside might look nice on the picture, but there is gonna be more moisture to condensate. Air your tent as long and as much as possible.

I use a hot water bottle of 10 liter MSR dromedary bags. It stops loss of air pressure because the mattress stays warm even when you are not in it.
