I love how simple and precise the explanation is, can't see this quality in any modern KZbin videos

Depends on the channel really. Here you can have crap or gold. In the past, making these movies was expensive therefore more thought was put in therefore less garbage was produced.

Today I learned that the term “soundtrack” came from the literal sound track of film. I’m so glad I stumbled on to this!

May be... Analogic is an image of reality as it is, whereas digital is always an artifact
@wopmf4345FxFDxdGaa20 Жыл бұрын
@@maantube Well, not really. Analog is, just like digital, limited / modified by the system you use to capture the signal. Benefit of digital is that you can copy it endlessly without loss of information, meanwhile in analog, the errors of the system always accumulate the more you copy or process it. Analog representation of a signal is in no way more or less "real" than a digital presentation.
@HenrykSienkiewicz-io1uv4 күн бұрын
@@wopmf4345FxFDxdGaa20 Analog represents the entire waveform graph, digital represents connected sections of the waveform graph, so analog is closer to reality.

The name of the piece playing at the end of this video is Danse Macabre. P.S: I HIGHLY reccomend the Pipe Organ version of this piece. It is pure joy to my ears.

First of a series of theatrical shorts produced by AMPAS- in cooperation with the major movie studios- between 1948 and 1951 (this one was produced for them by RKO-Radio), dealing with various aspects of making theatrical movies- writers, producers, directors, craftsmen, exhibitors, actors and actresses, and so on. The REAL goal of these shorts was to subtly convince movie patrons that, when it came to motion pictures.....THERE WAS NO SUCH THING AS TELEVISION! Yet, TV was already starting to nibble away at weekly movie attendance when this was released. In fact, by 1951, one-third of those who had "gone to the movies" since 1946 were staying at home watching OLD movies {the major studios wouldn't allow their recent ones to be released to television, so older independent [some of them from smaller studios that no longer existed] and foreign films were seen on local stations...including silent movies with new "soundtracks"}. And the exodus of movie patrons continued through the early 1950's.

I liked variable density soundtracks of old films because they had great high frequency ability, but bass frequently became distorted. And i noticed that when it switched to the variable area soundtrack, that the background hiss became less to almost non exsistant, because the area which was`nt being lit up by the "shutters" to photograph the sound was black and not exposed to the photoelectric cell. I also agree this was a very informative and well made film.

Very interesting to see how they did it back then without modern digital equipment. I added this to my favorites. What did he mean by "Why you still run on 60's, we'll have to pep you up to 90"?

Is the difference between the variable density recording and the bilateral variable recording because the lightvalve has a much more delicate system? Because he said both were identical but there was definitely a difference in sound quality. Is this because of the system used or just the video?
