Magnesium and water would create an explosion, so I’m guessing that anode ain’t that.😂

Every house with a water heater is gonna explode then 😂 It's magnesium because it's sacrificial. Although you can get aluminum ones as well, but this one is magnesium.

Thanks for the incentive if I put a hot water heater in my van to use a "tankless" one. By the way, I recently learned that "Rodent Spray" works very well sprayed outside like on the underside of the van and lasts many months. Can get it at like Lowes.
@LifeontheBlacktop5 күн бұрын
There are some other options like isotherm and some people even just do a small residential rheem or something. The downside of tankless is they get mineral build up a lot easier and require a little more maintenance.
@TeutonicNordwind5 күн бұрын
That inability to drain "feature" is a big reason I chose the Isotemp water heater.
@LifeontheBlacktop5 күн бұрын
@@TeutonicNordwind I looked at that one but it didn’t fit where I wanted it so we went ahead with the Bosch.

@jeffsmart767411 күн бұрын
Hi Guy’s, it’s great to see you, admittedly I’d not been watching you for a little while. We are retired and here in Australia we’d be referred to as Grey nomads which we just love. We don’t travel permanently and so we still have a home base in central N.S.W with a population of approximately 750 people. Like you we use to ride a Ultra classic but these days we are looking to get on a Can am Spyder, yeh I know, but it will safer, we are going to trailer it behind our Toyota coaster motorhome. We can sympathise with your current situation as we had a 39 deg C, and were not travelling at the moment. Anyway, keep enjoying your travels as it’s a great opportunity at such young ages. Travel safe

@jimtomstimpson147712 күн бұрын
Ok, maybe this is naive or oversimplifying but why don't you vanlife in cooler places (north, high altitude ) in the summer and warmer places (south, Florida, The Keys, etc) in the winter?
@LifeontheBlacktop12 күн бұрын
That was definitely the plan but we had some other obligations (work/family) that didn't allow it unfortunately. We like the AZ desert in the winter time for sure. Florida is mostly campgrounds and that gets super expensive quick. So far no one has beckoned us yet for this summer so we are hoping to spend it in the mountains, as long as the fires don't push us out again 😬

How would you rate your AC? If you had to do it all over again would you go with the same one?
@LifeontheBlacktop14 күн бұрын
@@dukecitywildcat Pros- cabinet mounted allowing more roof space for solar. Even without the AC I wouldn't want any less solar than what we have.(800w). Really good customer support. Seems to work decent if you turn it on in time and has a decently efficient power draw. Cons- the noise keeps us from running it when we would want to. Like those days it's a little stuffy inside and you think "I'll kick the AC on and freshen the air up a bit ". It has this almost high pitched drone sound too it that's just super annoying to us for some reason. We've actually even talked about taking it out because we'd rather use the fans and be a little hot than listen to it all day. If you let the van get hot (90+)before you turn it on, it has trouble reducing the air temps to a comfortable level. However under the same weather/sun conditions, if you turn it on at say 75 degrees, it'll hold it all day. More or less insulation in the vehicle would affect this of course but that's our experience.

Shoshone Falls is named after the Shoshone Indian tribe. The Shoshone tribe pronounces it Shuh- show-nee, therefore that is the proper pronunciation. I mean, imagine creating a name and then someone using that name and saying "sorry, you're mispronouncing the name that you created". I think there are a lot of folks in the area who want to deny the Indian pronunciation. To me, this is similar to the people in Pierre, SD changing the pronunciation from Pee-Air to "Peer". They just don't like the fact that their "real American city" has the name of a Frenchman.

Your rant about people at grocery stores just "flying out of the aisle without looking" is so spot on! I feel the same way when you're at an airport or a Walmart and you're entering or exiting one of those bathrooms that don't have doors, they just have the curvy walkways. People come flying in and out as if there is no chance in hell that another human could possibly coming around the corner. That's always been a pet peeve of mine.
