People are over hyping this park, thinking is going to be an out of this world new experience... its just another themed park, new yes, innovating, I don't think so.... roller coaster are still rollers coaster, there's a lot of concrete tilt up walls, same recipe as island and universal park just with newer stuff.

I have to disagree. My experience at Disney and Universal have been the exact opposite of everything you just mentioned. If you go to Magic Kingdom on the weekend sporadically, there is NOTHING to eat but popcorn, hotdogs and dry overpriced burgers. The other options are expensive and overpriced sit down restaurants that are 99% of time unavailable because they require reservations weeks in advance. And the food always disappoints. You CANNOT leave a Disney sit down restaurant without paying $60 a person AT LEAST. You can get so much food at Universal for half the price. Mythos is not a fancy place, has approachable prices and has one of the best theme park food we’ve ever had. Confiscos is definitely a budget sit down restaurant but with DELICIOUS meals. The crepe stand at Universal is not sit down, but has a HUGE and DELICIOUS crepe for about $12. That crepe is a whole meal. The restaurants at City walk are so much better than anything at Disney world, and they are right next door to the parks. Which makes it so convenient. 90% of the time you don’t need a reservation or you can come back the same day after putting your name down. Disney could never. In fact, we just tried eating at Skipper Canteen at MK and had the worst experience. They said they were reservation only, so we open the app and find reservations available but only for a table for 5. We are a group of. 3. They refuse to let us have that table even though no one else was in line or trying to reserve that table. It was almost the end of the night and we had no other options for food. The spring rolls stand was first sold out, then they closed shortly after. All that to say, these experiences continue to happen to us at Disney but we rarely run into situations like this at Universal. And we’ve been going there for 4 years now. Anyways. Just sharing a different perspective and I think Epic Universe will blow Disney out of the water BIG TIME.

And here I thought the biggest issue was the potential for technical issues lol. But that's just because that's always been MY personal thought and it's a huge reason why I want to wait a year at least before going (so they can work out any kinks). For me, foods in theme parks was never a priority, but I can see how it is for others. I am just speaking from personal experience given I spent my life on home-cooked meals (and rarely anything can beat that). Plus I live near a city that's known for it's food- San Antonio, Texas, where mom and pop restaurants are king and you don't have to spend an arm and a leg for them. Like my fav restaurant in town, you can have a great lunch for around $10 lol. And as someone who HAS traveled a lot (former Military brat here), I've learned over the years to temper my expectations. Not to mention my family tends to eat at cheaper places because my brothers and I were taught to save money for more important stuff.

I was hesitant about going to Minion's Café for lunch, but my family insisted. To be fair, if they can match the creativity and efficiency of a quick-service spot like Minion's Café, that’s a whole new level. We’ve been to Mythos twice-yes, it’s pricey, but it’s always worth it. If you go, try to snag a table near the back windows for an incredible view. We’ve also visited Finnegan’s once, but it’s always packed during lunch hours, which is impressive for such a big restaurant. I’m curious to see what kind of table service Helios Grand will offer. And don’t forget, there are some hidden gem restaurants just a short walk from CityWalk at the nearby hotels-even if you’re not staying there, they’re worth checking out!

It’s much easier to leave Universal Studios Florida/IOA and go to CityWalk than it is to leave any Disney park in Orlando to go eat. I really don’t believe Universal needs more table service. Quick grab and go is much better.
@ericcrum70552 күн бұрын
I was excited for epic universe, but I'm not visiting. They wanted $400 for a 3 day ticket and you only get to go into epic universe once. And with an AP you can't even get in and there are no day tickets. So you either fork over $400 or don't get in at all? To me that's greedy, greedier than anything any other park ever did. It's like if you bought a 3 day Disney ticket and they're like "that excludes Magic Kingdom." What? Look, I'm excited for many of the rides in this park, but Universal made the identical mistake Hollywood Studios did. They built all E-tickets. What's not an e-ticket? The carousel? I'm going to be real with people. You are going to be paying $400 for an extremely hot park with 3 hour long lines for everything and next to nothing for sit down dining options. The rides will be great, sure, but there's not enough of them. Disney, and Universal, have to get off this "land" concept where they only build 2 or 3 rides in every land. It's a waste of space. I'm not going to tell anyone what to do, but get yourself a ticket to Epcot for the summer or the winter, much better experience I guarantee. Idk. Disney might be doing the right business model just reducing ticket prices and adding next to nothing. It might wind up attracting people because of the cost and lower crowds. I love IOA. I'm not a Universal person in general, but they have rides that are good I give them that. I hope Epic Universe is great. They will have fantastic rides for sure, but I see all of the problems of Disney's Hollywood Studios where most people won't enjoy their day because of the long lines and heat, especially Nintendo world. It looks very hot for Florida's climate. Probably should have been scrapped from the plans altogether it wasn't practical. Idk. Maybe people want to stand on hot cement and I'm wrong. I won't. I'll do Animal Kingdom or Epcot. Much cooler, much more enjoyable overall experience.
@TheNobleWayКүн бұрын
Yeah it’s gonna be a rough experience in the beginning for sure. They will also be offering single day tickets soon so be sure to check back - that will be what you are looking for! 👌🏼
@DrStarlanderКүн бұрын
I'm very excited for Epic but I agree there are not enough attractions and they are all "too big" (E-tickets or nearly) so lines will be 2-3 hours each. It's going to be a harsh reality check. I do think they need to build 10 more attractions to make this park work with the likely 14-15 million annual guest attendance...That means a bunch of smaller and cheaper to build attractions that can absorb 1,000-2,000 people each in their queues to take 10,000-20,000 people "off the streets."

I can't say yet from experience how good the guest food will be, but the team member dining experience is significantly better! Not just in choices, but food quality. If the guest experience is equally better, it's going to be amazing. I'm guessing USF and IOA might not have as many full service restaurants because it takes longer to clear out a full service restaurant, therefore it has to close before the parks, Citywalk generally closes later. That is just my guess though, not based on any knowledge. Sorry, Louie's is bad pizza, Pizza moon will be much better, I can't disclose why I know this. I agree that the Minion Cafe food is amazing, and Toadstool Cafe is also great as I visited the one in Hollywood in 2023.

I'm happy with the so called hybrid quick-service/sit-down restaurants Universal is doing. They feel more upscale than a regular quick service restaurant but less expensive than a sit down. Now I only eat one meal a day so I have hardly any need for food anyway and more time to do rides. 😊

I think that’s how a lot of people feel! It’s so odd because at Disney it seems to be the reverse for so many people - going to the parks to focus mostly on eating and dining experiences and the rides are almost secondary. Interesting the more I think about it.
@marilynsd14742 күн бұрын
i have worked in universal food and beverage for a few years (6 years all at circus), and your theory for why we dont have alot of full serv restaurants is actually correct; but with one more added thing. we focus more on quick serv because we believe you guys come for the rides, not the food, so its to get you in and out as fast as possible; because of the focus on quick serv, the chefs created a new style they call "casual dinning" which they have been testing out for the past few years (minions was the first, then it was circus), a way to elevate quick serv without becoming full serv. with that focus aswell, full serv is paid less then quick serv but are allowed tips, quick serv is not allowed to have tips because of the pay being higher. off the topic of quick serv, why universal pizza is better then normal theme park pizza is because its made fresh in house. the dough is made in production kitchen, brought to the restaurant, pressed, topped, and put in a cooler to be cooked when needed.

I know it will be a great theme park, but hearing phrases like “best theme park in the world” or “most unique attractions in the world” is a lot to live up to. Universal has far more than 2 sitdown restaurants, yes I'm going to butcher the names - 3 Broomsticks, Minions Cafe, NBC Studio Cafe, Finnigans, Louies and Mel's Diner. iOa has Leaky Cauldron, Pizza Tratoria, Whimpy's, Concurst, Circus McGirguess, Marvel Cafe, the Jurassic Cafe, Blondie Sandwich Shop, and Burger Diggs. When I went to Universal Studios Hollywood in California, I thought the food was overall fine. But what really sets it apart compared to Disneyland is that in Disneyland, buying food is a fucking nightmare and you need to wait like an hour or plan ahead to figure out something to eat whereas in Universal Studios, you can literally just buy food whenever you want it. Also, in Universal Studios, you can easily buy some alcohol and carry it around the park and it takes like just a few seconds to make that purchase whereas when I was in Disneyland, you will be waiting forever just to buy a single drink. The food at Epcot is certainly better than Universal Studios overall, but the food at Magic Kingdom in general is pretty garbage to be honest unless you plan to go to a sit down restaurant that’ll take hours to get food at and it’ll cost you an arm and a leg. For 99.9% of park goers, Universal will be the overall nicer experience to get some food quickly that way you can carry on in your day. Also, the food at any of the Harry Potter lands is amazing.
