If you see this today in 2024 and then their live performance in the 70's.... there is not much of a difference ....they are still relevant and have the same high energy as always .. easily earning them the greatest rock and roll band of all time... period! 6:29

Thanks so much for posting! This performance was just last week! Love Skunk Baxter from waaay back. He always made the difference in his special touches with his guitar. One of the greatest from our generation when he was with the Doobie Bro., Steely Dan & many others. Thanks!

I think it's a shame he won't sit in with The Doobie. But it's understood.

And the Shadows

@@briancgotcher4397 -- when Skunk was talking about his musical upbringing, he gave props to the Ventures as one of the major influences on his guitar playing. To be sure, he mentioned the Shadows as one of the several bands/musicians that had covered "Apache," along with Jeff Beck and others. It was a great show! (And I love the Shadows, too.)

@RossAlbertConcerts I'm so mad that I never went to a ventures concert here in the states. I know they spent a lot of time in Japan. Huge mistake not seeing them now that all of them are gone.

BTW, the first concert I ever saw was in 1977. The warm up was Pablo Cruz and the Doobie brothers were the headliner. This was just after Tom Johnston had to pull out of touring, and Michael Mcdonald was brought in at Skunks recommendation. It was a little unsettling listening to Mcdonald singing Johnstons vocals. My friend and I just looked at each other, wondering what had happened. This was not the Doobies we knew!

This was the only song that Skunk did lead vocals on. (I love Skunk, but thankfully so.) The band's designated lead vocalist is bass player Hank Horton.

I've been watching him a long time. In Doobie brothers, I loved so much, my boyfriend and I rescued a jack Russell, whom we named Doobie Zwa. Cool. Super Great guitarist. And I watched him play guitar when Spirit came out so big with. I got a hold on you.
