Very impressive! What did you use to the black front grille so dark and shiny? I imagine it was quite sandblasted, given how hazed the headlight were.
@dokhdetailz56957 ай бұрын
I used Koch chemie heavy cut and micro cut but by hand using a foam applicator as the paint on them is very thin. Then I coated with carpro dlux so that it can be protected. Didn’t show these steps as it would’ve made the video too long.
@tedjohnson647 ай бұрын
@@dokhdetailz5695 Thanks for all those product details, much appreciated! I actually have this exact same car (2014 GTI, candy white), so I watched this vid with great interest. When I saw how bad the headlights were in your client's car, I figured the grille must have been equally bad shape, so I was stunned and confused... as to how the grille was restored to such a nice deep black with just the brief cleaning shown in the vid. How long (approx.) did it take you to do that polishing by hand? That sounds like A TON of work, polishing each of those individual grille hex cells by hand...!
@dokhdetailz56957 ай бұрын
It took approximately 30 minutes if you work quite swiftly. Just make sure your grill doesn’t have the exposed plastic hex’s as they differ between each car because those ones aren’t polish able only the ones which are painted black are.
@tedjohnson647 ай бұрын
@@dokhdetailz5695 Thanks for that additional info! Unfortunately I actually do have the plastic (not painted) grill on my 2014 GTI. Do you have any suggestions for products (or processes) for returning it to a dark black color? I tried cleaning the grill (Dawn dish soap and a brush) and applying Aerospace 303 Automotive Protectant, but the improvement was only slight. I've looked at a few products which claim to redeye black plastic, but... they all seem to have a few 1-star reviews saying that ran (in a rainstorm), leaving black on the white part of the bumper under the grill. Would love to know what you'd use in this scenario!
@dokhdetailz56957 ай бұрын
I would use a dedicated plastic ceramic coating such as carpro dlux or gtechniq C4. They are more pricey but in my experience it will look new for years.

this is inspiring to me , as I use 99% of the same methods you are using and i'm soon about to start my detailing business and finally will have cars to work on and transform and make KZbin videos about , this is the most excited I've ever been in my 31 years of living to start working 😀 so anyways great job on the channel, its weird how some channels don't use voice / showing the person behind the work, but I get it and will do it aswell, I guess your video is just way more approachable to all demographics of viewers i guess.. keep grinding bro and success with your channel, we'll be successes in no - time :) just one question tho , what camera and what mic do you use please ?
@dokhdetailz56959 ай бұрын
It brings joy to me that I can inspire others with my videos. I hope you have great success in your business and KZbin channel and feel free to inquire if you need any help. I record all my videos with an iPhone 13 Pro and that’s it. It’s simple and easy to use which means I can spend more time detailing the car than setting up the camera and in terms of video quality it is very competitive to newer cameras.

Noooo the grass how dare you! Think of the soil, wash your car on the street and let all the chemicals go down the storm water drain into the so called sewage treatment system where it can be treated and then we can drink it's goodness. I'm JOKING of course but to the people that think water from cleaning your car goes to the sewage treatment it's toilet water shower water etc, that in fact if you are on a town supplied water. keep doing what your doing bro 🇦🇺
