Went into liquor store on gut feeling - EH Taylor Small Batch at every register.....they sold out that day.....Coopers Craft is killer, like OF100 with more oak.( Grooved barrels like Sinatra but at $30 not $150)

This bottle is good it's different, but there's some bottles that were better. 4 Roses released a 16-year OESV 116 proof single barrel at the gift shop on Father's Day for 110 dollars, and it crushed this in a blind. It was better than any LE they've released. I was lucky to be there and purchased 2 bottles.

@whiskeybonded yes. These so-called cigar blends are just marketing scams. Port cask finishes always fall short. Sherry cask finishes become either too sweet or too much wine. Rum finished can get too sweet or not enough Rum character. And Armanac finishes again end up overly finished. I find grahams 20-40 tawny port, Harvey's Bristol sherry cream, or straight up Remy or Hennessey cognac is all I need. If I want a bourbon with my cigars I just go for simple ones like W12, OWA, B. Gold, MM Heart, etc. Or old fashions with Peerless DO or Woodford DO with chocolate & Turkish tobacco bitters and maple syrup.

@whiskeybonded yep. "Cigar Blend" is a marketing scam and overly finished bs bourbon. Ports are always missed or barely a hit. Sherry ends up too much wine. Armagnac, same thing. Cognac, same thing. Just give me grahams 20-40 tawny port, Harvey's Bristol Cream sherry, remy XO cognac, a normal bourbon, or an old fashion with peerless DO with chocolate & Turkish tobacco bitters and pure maple syrup with my cigars.

Depends on how I’m feeling I guess. Press, rocks or neat. Usually I’ll try something new neat. But my go to is usually about two fingers poured on a cube of ice. If it’s Jack it’s mixed with coke or straight out the bottle.

Because it's too expensive and/or too hard to find for a lot of people. Sucks to hear that the best bourbon is one you can't afford or find. That's what the apology is for.

I definitely appreciate the shop, Conrad. I picked up a Blantons SFTB. Its a lotto item in my area and I'll never see it on a shelf unless it's marked up to $300+. My only regret is missing out on the JD Bonded at $19.99.... its $39.99 in my state.

Shocked. Buffalo IMO is kinda just an amalgamation of typical bourbon flavors muddled together and kinda suppressed. OGD 114 is a whole experience.

Old Grand Dad 114 is $21 at Costco... and not worth it. I love Old Grand Dad Bottled-in-Bond... 114 is one of the few that I enjoy far less than the lower proof. EDIT: And no! Still Austin may be the best of Texas Bourbon... but Texas Bourbons donkey balls. They need to figure out the unique way TX Bourbon should be... you cannot age it the way we do in the Midwest.... you need to moderate the climate impact the way they lean into it in Scotland with the Dunnage Warehouses. It tastes like effing Play-Doh. EDIT 2: Redwood Empire is a joke with good marketing. Mediocre whiskey, at best.

I’ll be honest, I’ve tasted their lineup and I’m just not a fan. Now their packaging is Beautiful and hearing their story I don’t doubt their passion. The flight I tried just left me burning. All of the samples were so hot. Add that in with a high price (small batch is around $65+ in my state) and I find myself spending money on other directions.

EW Bib is my go-to drinker for sure. I like it better than WT 101 or Weller Special Reserve. I havent dont a blind against Early Times Bib but i have had it before and i recall Early Times being sweeter and EW has more complexity
