The scene where Mike and Sulley are hiding in the bathroom and where Randall starts punching open the stalls is my favorite scene of the movie.

It builds the suspense so well although Randall's searching skills are a little questionable at that moment 😂 Thanks for commenting!

I believe The Talented Mr Ripley is only comparable to purple moon. Many people don't realise that late 90's and early 2000s was a golden age of cinema. The silver age and the post war and across the sexual revolution of 60s were the time where real 'original'(if you discount radio and literature) works were first born. So there is a somewhat of a hallow effect on them. And they are wrongly perceived as better than latter versions especially in the 90s early 2000s. So what about saltburn. Hollow, contrived, instagram in motion-que, trying too hard to be more that it is, abomination of a creature made by a director who would not give previous movies of its kind the appropriate respect. The movie would at least be perceived better if she gave credit to TMR and purple moon. She outright deny them especially TMR.

He kills Peter at the end because Meredith is travelling with family and her disappearing would be noticed too easily. That's why he grimaces when he probes if she's travelling alone and she says no. On a small ferry the three of them are bound to bump into each other and reveal Tom's deception. Thus his initial impulsive act of lying to Meredith almost as an initial exploration of his desire to be someone else (not a working-class closeted homosexual in the 1950s) is what shuts him out from his chance at happiness kinds poetically. There's a 'compulsive heterosexuality' metaphor in there too. Minghella's Ripley is very much not the emotionless psychopath of the novel but more of a self-hating narcissist & his story one of class envy, compulsive heterosexuality, and the cost of trying to be someone you're not. Agree with the other criticisms but the ending makes good sense.

Yeah I think we might have gotten more caught up in the ending than we needed to, especially Kody ;) . He has to kill Peter there and I like that full circle moment that you talk about with him lying to Meredith in the beinning and that hurting him in the end. I also really like the thoughts you shared especially about the difference between what Minghella and Highsmith did. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts! - Korbin

100% agree. Saltburn's big scenes are purpose-built to get people gossiping about the film on Twitter. The Talented Mr. Ripley's big scenes are there to make you feel the emotional weight of the violence whilst we see little of the violence itself.

Zegler got a Golden Globe for WSS. Spielberg has said he will not do another musical. For me, having read the book and seen the movie twice Mine has the best perspective on the movie. Thanks for the discussion.

I think Vince Gilligan is the most well known TV director and that's only because of how big Breaking Bad got.

Yea that’s why the A/C is just annoyingly cold enough in the movie theater 😂 I’m all for the cinema experience but if I could just have a nice home entertainment system where at home I can choose what I watch, how I watch it, and how temperature-controlled my room is-well that, that’s nice
