I'm not a swimming expert. But the way he just seems to glide in the water and his kicks. They're just different. He looked so elegant when he swam that, if not for the other swimmers around him, you wouldn't know how fast he was actually going. He's my all time fav swimmer

From France I loved to see Lochte vs Phelps for many years ! Leon Marchand is from my country but trained by US and Phelps's coach and he is like an US athlete lol anyway the US natation is the best and I loved to see Lochte and Phelps each run during almost 20yo thanks for this travel !

I love how in the Athens race the commentators says that Phelps would be able to come home against Thorpe...LOL At the time of this race Thorpe was world record holder in 200m (the Athens race), 400m & 800m...so he wasn't going to run out of energy or pace.

Ian Thorpe made swimming so exciting, the race of the century at his peak no one could beat him. his first olympic gold was a smash I still celebrate.. He is the best ever. His swimming style is so smooth and unique with extra length cruising, I copy that also. he is fabulous.

Sometimes i wonder if the suit helped him a bit to be that much faster. Because the suit got banned later on, so it must have given him some advantage
