Terry McCaffrey: Kenny never knew his mother. She was a white lady who, according to Kenny, rejected him at the urging of her family who were racist. Kenny never knew her name, or ever laid eyes on her. He was raised by his aunt who was his first piano teacher.

He absolutely knew her name, and had a very nice photo of her, she was beautiful.

@@karenbenjey1 I know you were very close with Kenny so I accept your statement as true. What I stated was what Kenny told me years ago and I have always accepted it as accurate.

OMG-I had no idea he could do this. What a great example for any wanna be jazzers who think that jazz is the center of the universe. Now, I'd like to see some classical players play jazz like Kenny Drew. Ha!

Just "discovered" Kenny playing with Ronnie Cuber on YT - "Filthy McNasty" - and have downloaded his "Duality" cd with Larry Coryell. An oustanding talent. Wiki lists him as the son of Kenny Drew, another pianist who was also well respected. I have many of his recordings. Is Wiki correct in the white relationship? KD Snr was a very black Afro-American. This Kenny is very light-skinned. I'd call him white. Perhaps Kenny Snr. linked up with a white lady. I'd just like to know if Wiki is correct.

What a fantastic jazz pianist he was (listen to his A Look Inside and Passionata CDs and the ones he recorded with the Mingus BB), here demonstrating his classical music prowess. He was rumored to have memorized all Chopin's etudes. He will be missed greatly.

Hey...sounds good man. Crazy question: Would you happen to have the sheet music to this arrangement? I'd love to have it Thanks!
Technically, this is a very good performance and have my fellow respect. However, I didn't feel much musicality or stage presence coming from you, Cole. As a fellow trombone player who has also performed Arthur Pryor's trombone concertos, Pryor's intent was to entertain the audience while showing technical skill. From what I see when you play, you are focusing too much on the technicality portion of Pryor's works. Learn to relax a bit and entertain the audience with musicality. Great potential
