That tooling won't last long with that little coolant. Just remembering my machining days
@Machinist_Ph_141413 күн бұрын
I didn’t change my cutting tool until finishing cut,from 11” diameter to 4” pre machining.Yes more coolant is good also.

It doesn’t look like a thread cutting insert.
@Machinist_Ph_141420 күн бұрын
Yes it’s not but it’s worked same degrees on cutting thread.

What is special here? The addition of a mounting position for the micrometer? The other thing is your carbide tool looks to not extend below the cylindrical shaped bar ... can you reach bottom of a blind hole? What happends when carbide chips off, common as it wears?

That better be a finish pass. Big VTL like that has the power to tear a house in half and you are taking a what… .100 depth of cut? Grab you a CNMG644 and triple that at least.

I always used that for tapping because it holds the chips in the flutes. I never used it for drilling holes. Does it actually work well?
@Machinist_Ph_141429 күн бұрын
Yes it’s work well,watch the video again and you can find it out the cutting chips.After putting a cutting fluid the chips is too short.

I'm not familiar with this machine but it's very possible that's intentional to keep the cutting edge from scrapping on the way up

Не думал что медь плохо обрабатывается пока не стал токарем. Очень вязкая и резцы ломает. Хуже только нержавейка

Why does KZbin keep putting machining videos in my feed? Who cares about machining? That's literally just some person's job. I already have a job, and do not want to watch videos of someone else's job. What's next, videos of putting price tags on things, or someone's zoom meeting with HR? I wonder if people without jobs, watch these videos to feel productive lol

i love thick lube lol need it to stay where it belongs not against the wall. nice tools..what are good drill bits? anyone can answer. seems like i try and buy good and still to no avail..or what is a good sharpener
@machinist1337Ай бұрын
Well, it depends on what you want. You can get several hundred dollar drill bit sets and ten dollar drill bit sets. Irwin makes good inexpensive drill bits. But it's really how you're using them. If you are free hand drilling with one speed, always get cheap bits. If you're using a nice power feed drill press, then you want nice bits. If you're drilling through sheet metal wood or stainless steel, then still cheap drill bits. If you have a machine shop, then always try to get the best tools you can get. Also, you really don't need a good drill bit sharpener if you just have the right grinding wheel. It's fairly easy to hand sharpen drill bits. The approach angle of your drill bit really doesn't matter as long as it's cutting chips on both sides of the drill, and you have enough relief behind the cutting edge. Rpm on drill bits is probably most important there are drill but speed charts easily found on Google you can screen shot.
