Wd-40 is a penetrant, not a lubricant. Also terrible for rubber and nylon components such as belts. Use silicone lubricant, or just replace the bad idler pulley that’s causing the squeak

I’m sure someone could probably explain it better but from my understanding WD 40 (Water Displacement test subject 40) displaces water and rust to leave a thin sheen of lubrication. PB blaster has more of a real lubrication effect that might cause slippage. WD sticks, PB slicks. 😊
