great video, can I ask, do you use a map? App? I'm quite new to hiking but planning a similar walk
@TonysTrails
@TonysTrails 6 күн бұрын
Hi Ben. I ALWAYS take a map and compass out with me, however… I plot the routes on a mapping app on my laptop and upload them onto a GPS as a GPX file. These files can be loaded into just about any mapping app and GPS unit. If you look in the descriptions under the videos you will find links to the GPX files of the route I planned and the track we actually walked.

Hi Darren. Yes, up to the trig was a slog. The goats were good though. The other side of the valley was much more interesting. We were up The Dodds on Saturday in the clag and gales. The forecast was blue skies and 15-20mph winds! Did you get up any hills away from the crowds?

@@TonysTrails We climbed Catbells, Maiden Moor and High Spy. We managed to get to Catbells summit ahead of the massive crowds that followed shortly after but Maiden Moor and High Spy were both fairly quiet. Your route down via the quarry is superb. Hi Sally. Yes, ticks, and their associated Lyme disease, are something always to be aware of and body checks should always be done, especially if you’ve been wearing shorts. Don’t want to tempt fate, but I’ve only ever had two. Charlie’s had quite a few, but his flea treatment also kills ticks.

Have a look at this: Lake District Walks | Dale Head, Hindscarth & Robinson | Wanwright's North Western Fells kzbin.info/www/bejne/maC0d6KrmrOBZ7M You can go up to Robinson the way we came down (by Scope Beck and past the reservoir) and then I believe there is something of a faint path (or you may just have to make your own way) diagonally up. I’ve only ever been that way the once in the video and the ground was covered in snow. You could always go up the way we did. It’s a brilliant way up Dale Head and despite what it looks like on the approach, there is no exposure at all. Then come down over Hindscarth and Scope End. Let us know how you get on.
