I thought the reason Cole killed Joffrey was homophobic. I haven’t done a rewatch yet but my memory of it was Joffrey was mocking Cole saying they are both the side pieces, they were the same. Cole’s rage about being the called the same as a gay man tipped him over the edge and he violently killed him.

I don't think Tom being CEO had any weight on Shiv's decision. Actually, she would have had more of a chance to become CEO later with Kendall as the head. I think it was mostly her pride and narcissism and Kendall's insufferable behavior when he's on top

Michhelle in dimension 2, intriguingly, qent through the window into the sqme dimensuon that OA and HAP do. She went into the body of a version of Ian Alexander, who plays Buck and Michelle. So either the window deliberately did that, or it is always a portal to that particular dimension? Either way, the face it came into Nina's ownership, and was searching for Karim through people's dreams, indicates an underlying purpose the house has. Which suggests some deeper plot machinery at work.

Something i suspect would have happened in Season 3 is that a huge tension is introduced between the core 'three': OA, Homer and HAP. Each may have potentially integrated with very different versions of themselves. HAP would perhaps have integrated with more a humane version of himself who would never expeirment on people (possibly, haha). OA could by the end have integrated with a version who is in love with HAP aka Jason Isaacs. And Homer would be left in a very difficult place by this, perhaps. It would potentially change the dynamics hugely by the end, heading into Season 4. A lot of people have suggested that Season 4 was deliberately kept a mystery, by our not learning whay Renata's NDE was. But presumably the 5th Season would have brought us into OA's NDE - which seemed to be a very special realm that sounded like the rings of saturn. So it perhaps would have been a full blown sci-fi in space setting. This tallies with the octopus: google 'the oa octopus nasa patch'. It seems to have been a clue for viewers, to solve the puzzle. ('Azrael', the ocoptus' name, is that of a powerful angel: the Angel of Death.)

One theory has been that Zal is the OA's brother in our dimension. Old Night said that a brother was sent to protect to the OA in every world. So it would make sense that Zal and Brit (the real versions) would construct the plot so that our actual workd is entirely consistent with the plot being real. Zal would be a brother very specific to our own reality - and my saying this would be a sign of that, in the extended world of the story whcih includes us viewers, haha

Improvised. That meant that Matt Smith felt his character in the moment. Being the only one to do that at the time. What a heart felt team effort.

Ur so right about why this is better than walking dead…i started the walking dead recently, im on season 7 now, and its getting boring. Its just alot of killing walkers. There is some human interest aspect to it and u get attached to characters/sad when they die, but it went on too many seasons. It dragged on. Also, ur right that last of us could have used any big/bad event and the main story of love and loss would remain intact. It doesnt need the infected like walking dead needs walkers.

Just wanted to say aryams weapon was used massively in the long night episode, they decided to make it so she could take it apart so it would fit through the hallways. It was double ended and a pretty cool weapon for her, which was what she used in her training in bravos

I think a time jump between episodes 4-5 would have made Daenerys' turn and Varys and Tyrion's betrayal a little less forced. Daenerys was up in her room going loco down in Acapulco for a few weeks, but I think a few months would have been better?? Season 7 and 8 would have felt less rushed if there were a few big time jumps. Kinda like House of the Dragon

Hey guys still loving the rewatch even though its coming to an end… firstly, Chris stop talking about spoilers online when some months ago you spoiled on this GoT review podcast what happens to Rhaenyra without warning… that burnt me but I’ll recover… Aside from that, I’m interested in subscribing to appletv+ to potentially watch “Silo” a dystopian style show which might be something you guys would be interested in covering? It’s apparently half way through its first season and has been critically acclaimed thus far. Anyway, thanks for doing what you do and I’m looking forward to HotD Se2 only a year away now 🤷‍♂️

Re: last week comment on when Jaime leaves Winterfell. He is there long enough for the message to come through that Danny’s ships made it back to Dragonstone and were ambushed. So, that’s at least a few days. Maybe not weeks, but certainly not the same night. It’s another example of cramming too much in that it messed up the story beats.

Great discussion. I completely agree that it’s largely a great ep. Like you, I HATE Euron & Jamie’s fight. Jaime deserved better than being knifed by that pointless character. Also that online he says to Tyrion about not caring about the people is so stupid. I tell myself he was lying & Tyrion knows it. Less people would hate season 8 had its content been over 10 episodes.

Stop the PRESS! Mattson begins to change his mind when he sees the magazine profile showing Shiv pulling the strings. Logan, episode 1, also changes his mind when he sees the magazine profile of Kendall in his office. Succession pro-tip, don't leave magazines lying around in the office.

Shiv also had a bad reaction to Kendall putting his feet on Logan’s desk, and immediately offering Stewy a corporate position, strike 1. Then how he was so cocky, exuding the Heir Apparent, in the boardroom instead of doing a proper pitch, strike 2. She could see how insufferable he would be, and indicating a penchant for overplaying his hand. She realized she was safer taking the big payout from the sale, and the soft power she’d have as CEOs wife. His desperate, aggressive, and bumbling attempt to regain her support, strike 3. He’s out.

Sorry Jamie but I disagree with you. The Long Night has to happen before the final battle for the throne. In The Long Night Daenerys looses a lot of her team, Dothraki, the Unsullied plus Jorah. Along with the love & adoration she sees people give to Jon, the rightful heir, afterwards is there to stir her into madness. Even Varys notices it. She’s been bonkers since S1 but what with the quality of the writing taking a dip they have to do this so you don’t think it came from nowhere.

- Ep.3 - It was great & a huge television achievement. My gripe - Jon’s dragon landed on the battlements but he didn’t use its fire to ignite the trench. That made no sense to me, especially when it was clear it hadn’t been lit. I agree that Bran is frustrating. I kept waiting for him to do something significant. Ayra’s weapon was designed to split in two, so she could have more ability to use it in the fight, which we see her do. - Ep.4 is the season 8 ep I really don’t like. Well, I like most of the first bit at winterfell, but the rest is so disappointing. Unlike most who hate the end (I don’t), it’s this one that annoyed me, as it was the biggest example that the conclusion was being rushed. Too much is packed in. Too much is not given room to breathe - many still think Jaime left Brienne the morning after and not weeks later. We didn’t see any of the turmoil he went through. In a longer season he’d have had another conversation with her about it. Instead, they made him look so uncaring. Then, Having the dragon die & missandei die in one episode was too much. I get it was to justify Dany finally losing it, but with more time that could’ve been fleshed out more. It’s here where I think most peoples anger with the end of the show actually stems from. This is where plots were rushed and not even time was given to develop those final story beats.

- I enjoyed ep.1 & agree it was great for nostalgia. I also didn’t like the dragon ride, but then I never bought in to Jon & Dany as being in love. There was no time building it up so it felt forced to me. I loved ep. 2 and it’s one of my favourites of the series. It wasn’t rushed. It spent time on character and dialogue and relationships and I loved it all. Really beautifully done. - Don’t agree Dany turned Jon’s revelation into a “gender war” - she correctly said that were those in power in the houses knew they could pick a male heir or a female one, that they’d pick him. That would’ve been true even if he wasn’t the rightful heir. It’s not a gender war. It’s reality of that world. Look at the start of HoTD - look who they picked to rule. The man with a lesser claim.

'He made me breathe funny' - another heartbreaking line from Roman. So was Ebba feeding Hugo the info on what Shiv was suggesting to Mattson? If so, why? Does that mean Mattson will have Greg as US CEO or is it a mind game to mess with Ken?

Kendall has always been able to speak so confidently, persuasively, and extemporaneously on a stage in front of an audience (senate hearing, news conference blaming Logan for cruises, Living+). He’s absolutely horrible when it’s one on one, stumbling, often seemingly blind to the other person’s point of view (Vaulter CEO, Rava, his own defense lawyer, the art start-up woman he wanted to invest in, Stewy on the Greek island, Mattson, Ramirez, Menkin).

@madgemart someone said that it could be Tom and Gerri as CEO and COO lmao and honestly, it's the sort of thing Mattson would absolutely do to be a prick. They weren't on the kill list, and he made comments to Roman and Kendall about cartoons on the mountain. I mean, wow, that would be something. I'm sure it will be Kendall, but if I'm wrong, anything is possible, lol
