Finally a complete video that shows how to jack up the car properly to get the jack pad under it. Great job! THANK YOU!

I watched this video a few years ago and came back to it today as I'm ready to create one of these for my 55 chev and I want to give you a real shout out for the web page with all the lists and drawings that I can modify for the 55. Again, thanks and thanks!

Dear young man……as a retired City Fire Captain and a “ car guy”….I have seen too many equipment/ structural type failures in my 30.+ year career. . Every one of those resulted in a fatality. Wooden cribbing is an excellent method to secure your vehicle when you have to “ crawl under neath”. Fire Department Engine Companies have been using cribbing for years to stabilize vehicles and other types of equipment during emergency incidents. Cribbing has tremendous compression strength. I will never trust jack stands…..ever. Am I paranoid? Yep……because it only takes 1 accident to kill or severely injure you. 😅 Be safe……measure twice……..cut once……. God Bless….✌️

I have never seen such an easy thing to do ,made into such a self-important nothing. Give somebody a cell phone with a camera, and they become an expert at everything. If people can't figure these thing out on their own, they probably can't figure out how to watch this video.

With regards to your floor jack moving forward and backward when lifting or lowering, make sure your floor is clean and free of any little pebbles, they will jamb a wheel and stop it moving. I damaged an original Hemi oil pan when lowering, a pebble stopped the jack from moving back, and the jack pad slide off the centre of the K member and onto the oil pan. I use old Hockey pucks on the jack centre pad as well as other places, those things are everywhere in Canada.

I know this video is old, but wont most moister come from outside the car? Especially the underside from road spray? If keeping water out of the seams is the goal, to me it makes sense to seam seal the entire bottom to keep road spray out of the seems if the raptor liner were to fail. Plus, by raptor lining the floor on the outside, water that made its way to the seams from the inside has no where to do, but to sit in the seam and rust. To mean seam sealing both top and bottom makes the most sense that way its protected from both sides of the seam.

Question! Could you complete the read subframe replacement without putting the car on a rotisserie? I ask bc my nova rear subframe is questionable. But I don’t want to separate front subframe from the car body

A nice hack if you need to store activator for a time is to disconnect the wire feed on your welder and blow your MIG gas into the can to displace the oxygen. Oxygen is the enemy and having nothing but inert gas in the can is a nice safety factor to combat the chemicals from degrading.

The problem is not the old cars but the new vehicles like my 2019 jeep cherokee where you can only jack it up at the pinch welds because most of the undercarriage is covered by a plastic shield.

Cribbing is ancient and versatile. For example your style cribbing can be used with a pantograph "scissor" lift to raise the vehicle. Place cribbing stands, lower scissor lift and now you have full access to the bottom of the vehicle. Otherwise those lifts are much less useful. I tie ropes to my cribbing which makes it super easy to remove and drag. Check out first responder and towing/recovery vides on cribbing for more cool stuff mechanics can use.

Awesome video! I didn’t allow my Jack to move and the car came down towards me…luckily I had Chucks in place to stop it from running me over. Simple instructions forgotten over decades since HS shop class in the 80s.

You did a fantastic job on that door skin. I had no idea how much was involved in replacing one. I think I will just patch the couple rust holes in mine. Liking your Camaro videos. I’m restoring my 1970. Looks like I’ll be watching a lot of your content. Thanks for sharing your experience on your restoration journey!!👍🏻

I had a 76 Chevy nova that I bought off my friend for $300 and I will tell you right now, that was the absolute best $300 I ever spent in my entire life. I have owned many cars over the years and my 76 nova was my #1 favorite car I’ve ever owned
@itseithergonnaworkoritaint78525 ай бұрын
Yeah, had a '75 Nova back in the late 80s I bought for 800 bucks, it has a warmed over 355, th350 with a shift kit and 3.55 gears and that was a really fun car to drive. Those are so light, pretty easy to get a good weight to HP ratio with them. That car ran high 12s that I could daily drive no problem. Would love to have another one.😎👍
nice dude! I want to do this for my 66 bug, only thing ill do different is make it to where i can tilt to either side.

One thing U-pol aggressively mentioned to me when I contacted them about their product being used to coat the bottom of a car after a restoration, was to never spray their raptor liner directly over a seam sealer without first applying a primer or adhesion promoter over the seam sealer first.
@gunnerneikoify6 ай бұрын
Have never understood everybody taping off the seams on the bottom of a car before applying seam sealer. Up until the advent of robotics applying perfect beads of seam sealer, it was all put on by hand and just nicely (kinda) smeared over and along the seams. They didn't waste time and money pissing around masking off the seams to make them look pretty after the seam sealer was applied and the masking removed. Run a nice bead then use a stiff bristle brush to smooth out the seam sealer along the seam and DONE, leaving it looking just like I did when it rolled off the factory floor.
