"Their highly physical play"😕The main goal of their "game" in this match was to inflict the maximum number of injuries to the opponent. Mostly on the sly. Moreover, the "judges" turned a blind eye to this. 82-83 5:1; 90 5:4

Also, any chance you have a Toronto Maple Leafs game aired regionally in Ontario like on CHCH, Global or The New VR?

this is how hockey was and is supposed to be played....shame of them for what theyve done to the game today. They ruined their own sport.

The unsung hero behind the Gretzky trade was a man named Merv Griffin (the creator of Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy!) who introduced Wayne Gretzky to Janet Jones when she was a dancer and he was a guest judge in 1986-87 on a show called Dance Fever.

Hey there! I had a little mistake on the dates of the Leafs games I want you to upload if you have them. The game where Domi was after a fan against the Flyers took place on March 29, 2001. That's the actual date of the game. I was wondering if you happen to have it?

As a Canucks fan who became a fan in 1990 at the age of 8, I just have to shake my head at this and most other drafts. Nedved turned out to be a good player (even though he didn't want to stay here), but they could have had Jagr (who admittedly wanted to go to Pittsburgh so told everyone he wouldn't come over), a big D in Derian Hatcher, Keith Tkachuk (a big power forward), or one of the best goalies of all time in Brodeur, among other guys who would have been great at that draft position. Hindsight is always 20/20, but Pat Quinn had an almost irrational fixation with getting that "big centre" and it drove him to make some really odd selections that didn't at all work out. If he wanted the big centre, Keith Primeau was right there, and he was Canadian. He didn't become elite at any point, but he was a really effective, big, physical, 2 way pivot. It's remarkable how often the Canucks whiffed at the draft table. One bad pick after another in the first round and they didn't even have a 1st in 1987 because they *cough* traded future hall of fame power forward Cam Neely AND a 1st that became Glen Wesley, a top pairing D, for Barry Pederson, a guy with 1 100 point season, but he'd had cancer surgery to remove half of his shoulder since then and his point totals had already dropped significantly the previous season. He went from 100 to around 75 points. Every team makes bad personnel decisions, but the Canucks have a history of consistency in that area. Even Mike Ricci would have been a good pick. A shutdown centre for the next 15 years.

I hate to break it to Americans but the day the gamed changed for North America was well before this as impressive as it was for Americans. That year was 1972 and called the Canada/ Russia Summit Series. 4 games in Canada using all Canadian NHL players and 4 games in Russia using supposedly all amature Russian players. It was War on Ice and even though Canada won the FIRST ever contest it completely changed the way hockey was played by all North American players. Watch the 8 games and you will see it was historic beyond just one in Lake Placid.

Always fun to see Rangers draft well 😁 Not just Jessiman but Malhotra, Novak, Blackburn and some nobody... oh boy. Malhotra wasn't a failure though, just did not make it in Rags. Blackburn would've been a good pick without that bad luck. The rest... What were they thinking? To everybody saying Montreal failed too, no they didn't. Kostitsyn had talent and a decent career. It's just that he is compared with the others and that's not fair. As there are an unusually high amount of Cups, individual trophies and likely Hall of Famers. Same with Zherdev who was decent but not great. Jessiman was the one true failure.

Keenan was coach of the Panthers for a cup of coffee, just long enough to trade Luongo to the Canucks for Pavel Bure, who lasted for two cups because his knees were shot by then. Luongo had what, ten years with the Canucks ? Nice job Mike. 👍

@@drew651 “ Keenan resigned Sunday as the Panthers' general manager, stepping down after a little more than two years running the team's day-to-day operations.” “ Keenan made some stirring moves in the past year, in which the Panthers -- who haven't won a playoff series since making the Stanley Cup finals in 1996 -- failed to reach the playoffs for the fifth straight season. Most notably, Keenan opted to trade All-Star goaltender Roberto Luongo to the Vancouver Canucks in June, a move that stunned Luongo -- who thought he was on the cusp of agreeing to a long-term deal with the club.” Actually, I was wrong, Keenan traded Luongo for Bertuzzi, who lasted all of SEVEN games with the Cats before he went to the Red Wings. Keenan sent Jovanovski to Vancouver for Bure, and HE lasted a whopping TWO years. Keenan was a dumpster fire when he was with the Panthers.
