Do you need any color guard or dance experience? I really want to do color guard at EHS but I don't know how to dance very well, or toss a flag..
@3FlipsTv8 жыл бұрын
Samantha N. No experience in dance or Colorguard needed! Many of the members come to us with zero experience and it's expected.

yo dude you get so much footage but then you overlay it with these lameass tunes - can you upload the raw footage too? i'd love to hear what's actually playing
@3FlipsTv8 жыл бұрын
No. But if you really want to hear what a Cymbal crash sounds like, try looking up "cymbals crashing". This video is showcasing visual moments.

Shitty lines like Crossmen always to be CMCM, ripping every visual without so much as a consideration for creativity or originality, but they don't realize that the essential CMCM-ness that makes this line what it is is un-rippable. It's not just the cool visuals, the sweet notes, or the way they carry themselves; it's all of those things together plus something more, something indescribable and undefinable; something that you can't articulate, but you know it when you see it, and you see it when you watch CMCM. (and not crossmen)
@3FlipsTv8 жыл бұрын
While I understand and can personally vouch for the special vibe CMCM has, I don't doubt Crossmen has their own. Most things in the Cymbal world today aren't original anyway. It's all been "ripped" , changed slightly, then "ripped" again. Besides, a couple of the guys in this video were members of the Crossmen Cymbal line so they can "rip" themselves if they want I suppose.

They move the plates with extreme velocity while maintaining control of them as well. Mad respect from me, more lines need this kind of precision movement

I really wish I could be in a cymbal line like this. At my school, our cymbal players don't really do anything. A lot of people in our drumline want to start trying cymbal visuals but they kind of left it up to me to try to think of something and I have no clue where to start. I barely know how to play them and I've been watching a lot of videos trying to think of things we could try
@Cass_Ihr9 жыл бұрын
Their A position and B position were quite awful. They needed better triangles with their elbows. For you people who don't know what I'm talking about, the first rule of cymbal line is "triangles."
@markporter45719 жыл бұрын
Jim Norman Their can be so many factors that go into cymbal playing, pinning down one rule is essentially meaningless. On the cymbal line I was on we were taught that sound quality and looking the same were most important. Also they play and move together with uniformity. How they hold their cymbals doesn't matter as long as they all do it the same way. Cymbal playing isn't like regular drumming. Their isn't a "right" way to do it.

When did the amount of "clanks" measure whether you are a "real" Cymbal line?

Let me know when you March a Cymbal line of this caliber in wgi or DCI and we'll chat more . Cheers :)

+BlueIce Gaming I really don't think adding the place you march adds any credibility to your statement, plus no there is no "right" way to play cymbals, that's what makes it special

I am on a new drumline in Canada, and we have an 8 piece cymbal line. We have no instructor for cymbals and no one who has done it before. We are trying to learn just by watching amazing videos of cymbal lines. Do you have any pointers on how to do some of the flips and tricks that are in the video (without giving away your trained secrets of course) that you could share so we could learn how to do some of that? We know how to do a basic release and reloads, and some other simply stuff, but that is about it. We perform for sports events (we aren't in DCI), so we are just looking for some crowd pleasing visuals. Let me know!
@3FlipsTv10 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment Kristin! Honestly I have learned a lot of the visuals or at least have gotten inspiration from watching KZbin videos as well, just like you're doing. I have been in the cymbal game since 2002 so I have learned a lot over the years with my biggest educational gains were from marching with the music city mystique cymbal line (WGI). I have several cymbal videos on my channel of the kids I have taught over the years, feel free to take what you can! It's hard to explain through typing but simply watching a vid, even in slow motion, trying to mimic the exact move and rep slowly over and over until it's perfected basically. If you have release and reloads down, variations of it come pretty simple. If you ever have a video of your group, post up! I'd love to see it!

Great! Thanks for the help!! Slow motion videos are definitely the way we are trying to go about it. I will post a video once we look a little better!
