Here is a helpful outlook on Boards, I see my job as President of the Board and CEO of the Association to help grow and improve the quality of life in our community. I do not dictate to the community what I want them to do. However, the Covenant Declaration must be be followed by everyone (owners, visitors, and renters). Abiding by the Covenants, helps to increase the value of our houses and improve the ambiance of the community. Next, we can partner with surrounding companies and local governments for amenities (community events) which will further improve the community.

My Father served aboard her 1956-1958, 7th Fleet, cruise to the Western Pacific. CWO-3 Irving Citron, OE Div, Dad was always so proud of his time aboard, and she was his favorite station. He served also aboard the USS Chicago, USS Prometheus, USS Dixie, and at both Treasure Island during WW-2, and at N.O.T.S. China Lake from 1953-1956. I was raised as a dependent, and since i was born 1946, just after the war, was privileged to have been stationed at Lualualei, Oahu from 1958-1961, Dad passed in 2014 in Grants Pass, Ore. where he was active in the Navy Relief, and the Naval Officers Association. Mom proceeded him by 2 years and both are buried at Eagle Point, Veterans Cemetery, together after 69 yrs of Marriage

In the 60s, community leaders held meetings, created activities for youth, and beautified the complex with donations. We did not need corporations at all. Those were the best days. People need to get involved if you choose to own homes.

To be elected as president of the HOA you must be either German or Russian ancestry. You must be a professional class A spy. Make sure everyone's house look the same. Enforce illegal parking, for example parking in front of your home is not allowed. Insist everyone pays a monthly fee and increase fees or if you don't like it we will.sue you Keep undesirable residents out of secret meeting unless you are wearing a white pointed hat. Make sure everyone knows that the HOA is more powerful than the government. If your lawn isn't the proper shade of green your house will be foreclosed on. These are the qualifications of anyone running for the board. One last thing. If our HOA builds around property you own , make sure the HOA officer harass and threaten property owners not inside the HOA community.

My grandfather - John “Jack” Torrens was served aboard the ROCHESTER from about 1950 to about 1952. I hope to find some sailors who knew him.

My land lord (when I attended art college in the late 60's in New York City) was a Vice Admiral on the USS Rochester during WWII. He saw action in Europe. His motto: Doing the Right Way or the Navy Way.

This is really great information. Just know legally HOA's have all the power and can sue you at anytime for anything and notice "communication" is not part of most bylaws. Read your bylaws, there are no rights for owners.
