I once tracked my cat for a week with a small GPS tracker. He would visit local houses and skirt around the edge of a local field. Only once did he ventured away from the edge of the field. It was dark and for five minutes he prowled into the middle of the field. Each GPS fix was time-stamped. The full moon occurred during the same five minutes. He did not have to venture so far into the field just to get a good look at the moon, away from the hedges. If he didn't know it was a full moon perhaps he was responding to smaller creatures in the field who did - perhaps they were making noises he could detect, for example.

Thank you for sharing. It’s fascinating how animals, like your cat, seem to be so in tune with their surroundings, especially during a full moon. The idea that he might have been responding to smaller creatures who were aware of the full moon is such an interesting perspective. It really makes you wonder about the subtle ways the moon’s energy influences all living things, from the tiniest creatures to us.

@@lunag1111 What was astonishing was the accuracy of the timing, pretty much down to the minute. By eye, we cannot tell the difference between a full moon and one that is a day out. When I was younger I would arrive home after school at the same time each day to find the cats waiting at the doorstep. On days when I was ill and home all day I repeatedly saw them combing to the doorstep about 5 minutes before my normal arrival time. They definitely know what time of day it is, despite their erratic sleeping habits!

I found this explanation online: It tends to have a more yellow or orange hue, compared to when it's high overhead. This happens because . As it travels a longer path, more of the shorter, bluer wavelengths of light are scattered away, leaving more of the longer, redder wavelengths.

Actually I found out why the light rays are reflecting off of the smoke coming off of all of the wildfires and it is turning the moon orange
