Listen And if I said I really knew you well What would your answer be If you were here today? Ooh Here today Well, knowing you, you'd probably laugh And say that we were worlds apart If you were here today, ooh Here today But as for me I still remember how it was before And I am holding back the tears no more Ooh, I love you, ooh What about the time we met? (What about the time we met?) Well, I suppose that you could say that we were playing hard to get Didn't understand a thing But we could always sing What about the night we cried? (What about the night we cried?) Because there wasn't any reason left to keep it all inside? Never understood a word But you were always there with a smile And if I say I really loved you And was glad you came along Then you were here today, ooh For you were in my song, ooh Here today

I wish this video had ended with Paul entering the front door of his house, walking up to Linda, and saying to her "Hey Love, guess who I saw on the Tube today?".

Lovely track. I always thought McCartney's nasaly vocals on Winter Rose were intentional but he actually had a cold on the day of recording (according to a recent interview with guitarist Laurence Juber).
@crystalidentity29 күн бұрын
Thanks for confirming my suspicions (I was never really sure he was sick 'til you brought it up). I recall thinking the first time I heard 'Winter Rose' - "Are you sick, Paul? Why didn't you re-record it after you got better?" I think he must've recorded 'Love Awake' another time, because his voice sounds back to normal there, haha! **Happy Holidays** 🌬❄☃

not even REMOTELY cheesy -- unbelievable groove, his voice is the best it's ever been. the song is slinky and sexy and deep

There's only one moment in Paul's career that's really cheesy: The "P.S. Love me do" live version from the Pepperland era. :D

I’ve heard this song live twice and dozens of versions on the internet. This is the best I’ve so far. Paul’s singing is strong and confident, guitar playing is good (as always). In many versions McCartney chokes up and while effective it does draw away from the effect of the song to a degree. Here he is clearly involved emotionally but channnels his grief into the performance. I’d like Paul to do an album of solo acoustic versions of some of his songs. This one would be near the top of my request list for such an album.
