Sorry for the very late reply but it was $499.99 through drumeo but that included a full year subscription to the service. you can get the same kit (without the drumeo sub) at guitar center for around $399.99 or so. I also bought the upgrade kit to add another floor tom and crash for another $99

Yeah, I completely understand what you mean. I am very happy with this kit as a complete beginner but I can tell why it is really aimed at beginners like me. I have read tweaking the settings for reverb and some other parameters in this module help, it's on my to-do list to try.
