It’s really scary that this happened less than 100 years ago. But what’s heartbreaking even after the tragedies and horrors of World War 2, there is still evil, hate, discrimination, racism and war happening to this day. Regardless, the religion we follow, the beliefs we have, the nationality we are from, we are all humans at the end of the day. Why can’t we all just get along? Those who do not learn from the past are doomed to repeat it… 😢

I’m sorry my friend but you have a couple of errors in your video. Item is Grenade Hand Fragmentation No 36, or possibly No 36M. The number refers to its design sequence, the 36 progressed from the No 5 to the No 23 and finally the No 36. The M designation is not for Mills (I know lots will argue this point) but for Mesopotamia (Middle East). The standard TNT mixtures sweated in hot conditions and an improved explosive was adopted - the secret added ingredient was 2% beeswax! Needless to say black powder was not used. Black powder is a low explosive and does not have sufficient explosive power and is highly susceptible to moisture. Your grenade does not have its Igniter set which comprises a small firing cap sealed to a short length of blasting fuse (with a time of 4-6 seconds) and finally a high explosive detonator. The Igniter set is bent and fitted into the compartments in the base of the grenade. Grenades were shipped unfazed and final fusing was done immediately prior to issue to troops. The other point FYI is how to hold the grenade. The fly off lever or Spoon fits into the web of the right hand between thumb and forefinger, and the pin is withdrawn by the left hand. Left hand throwers hold the grenade in the left hand but upside down. Your example had the pin inserted in the wrong direction. Lastly the term pineapple grenade arose from the US M2 grenade and is an example of popular culture overriding history. For reference, my credentials are 20 years Australian Army Ammunition Technical Officer.

"The standard TNT mixtures sweated in hot conditions and an improved explosive was adopted." Correct. The No 36 or 36M were filled with approximately 70 grams (about two ounces) of either Amatol or Baratol; a mixture of TNT (trinitrotoluene) and a nitrate oxidizer. The oxidizer was ammonium nitrate in Amatol, and barium nitrate in Baratol, hence the names.

I'm adding a subscription to the channel and I'm surprised I missed it before. The live history exhibition is impressive. I hope to join you as the corona-freak situation calms down. I used to come for the anniversary of the Battle of Arnhem and attended ABWO events but also visited the camp where Rob van Meel was (greetings) - closer to the Old Church. Many memories that come back after watching this movie. I hope to meet again. Greetings from Poland.
