For any of those who have seen the long interview with Don Kelley here on KZbin, he talks about this same story when JD first sat in with them. Don said him and Dave Roe’s jaw about hit the floor when they heard JD play, and he was one of the best guitar players they had ever heard. JD is very very humble. So cool to hear his story

Maybe "teach" the actual technique?

Very talented man. Love hearing slide guitar. Hearing him talking to the audience, he sounds so much like a regular down to earth guy. Hope i have the chance to hear him play live. Awesome video. Wish him tons of thanks for his instructional video.

Spot on. It served him well. I try to dig, mine Anything about this guy. He has a KZbin channel, 8 year old things. Very little new, & his UNREAL, ( Crazy Ass, W/ the Unreal, dynamic Marshall & 50 W.) That stuff is allmost impossible to find. I LOVE this guy, & his way of thinking. But, is he trying to NOT be successful/Available to his fans ?? Unheard of.

slowing this down (did you know you can do that right in Settings on KZbin) will expose some great nuance to his picking when he starts playing. love how he is using muted notes to keep the rhythm strong.

So nice to hear someone explaining things with music theory! High E sting I will get to you eventually. Hard to feel the strings through the slide at first to get the right touch, but it’s coming along. Excellent video in all ways!

@@patrickolivier1 You're right. It's all subjective, and opinion. I just feel that some players are overrated, and some of who I feel are better players are overlooked. I don't mind sharing my opinions since it is a comments section though.

amazing player . It seems he de runs a normal action, not setup just for slide? Does someone know ?
@jakemguitarist4 жыл бұрын
I always recommend that. Don’t set up a guitar for slide, just play it normally. It teaches you to have a light touch and be subtle. The Derek Trucks Method.

Talked to JD after a recent show he did. The guy is down to earth and a class act.....and plays his ass off. Killer drummer too. Reminded me of Mitch Mitchell. His band is well worth the price of admission. I can't say that about many acts these days.

Just a suggestion and maybe as a courtesy, interview in an area where there is no door opening and closing often. It is very distracting. Greg and Janet are providing their time to provide some of the history of their company. You have produced a historical interview that I hope stays on KZbin for a very long time. Thank you for posting!
